Significant delay between smart bulb turning on and color change

I have a button rule that turns on a LIFX smart bulb on a motion event, and then changes the color to CT 3200 K.

The physical switch for the bulb is usually already on, I just include the ON action in case it has been turned off. I’m noticing a 5 to 7 second lag between the bulb turning on and its color change. What would cause this since it’s theoretically all one action?

The first time at night it gets executed, the bulb is in an RGB color, but that lag just seems excessive. I could understand if the bulb was physically turned off, but at that point, I wouldn’t expect the color change to happen at all since the bulb hasn’t had time to boot before the action is executed. Transition Time is set to ASAP under Preferences.

I use two LIFX bulbs over my kitchen island. They have the option to preset color and preset color temperature. That can be enabled with the bulb at level 0, essentially off. If your bulb support this you can set the color before you turn it on.

Thanks for the suggestion, but that feature appears to be disabled for these bulbs.
