Shitty deliveries

Now that's messed up

ya i filed a couple of claims with amazon.. lately much better.

  1. tossed light envelope in driveway. had camera footage of it blowing away..
  2. tossed in driveway more that once (middle of driveway) didnt notice and ran over it with car.
  3. just tossed in bush.

We have two 8-1/2x11" signs on the bottom corners of our garage door, politely requesting deliveries be made to the front door (with an arrow pointing the way), in an attempt to avoid backing out over packages. The front door is about 20' away from the garage door.

A number of UPS drivers have dropped packages directly in front of one of the signs. :worried: So far [fingers crossed], FedEx and Amazon have not.

From "FedEx: When it absolutely, positively has to be there overnight" to "If it absolutely, positively has to be there overnight, use any carrier but FedEx".

Several years ago I bought this

Got a sign off Amazon (this is similar)

About 90% of the packages make it in the box. Some drivers will set the package right next to the box, when it can clearly fit IN the box.

Porch pirates will not stop, walk up to the house and open the lid unless they followed the driver and saw them put a package in the box.

Nice suggestion/partial solution but it’s still sad that its gotten to the point where it becomes necessary to spend $75 (per your links) for the opportunity to place a large ugly box (there is not a WAF suitable place to place such an item near my front entrance) by the front door.
After repeatedly having my packages not delivered to the location directions given to Amazon, having a number of packages lifted from packages left exposed on the front porch, repeated complaints to Amazon on their delivery notice feedback page, and several phone calls to Amazon, I finally tried appealing to my delivery person’s humanity with some positive results:

I purposely ordered something (that I needed anyway) that would be delivered on a day that I knew I would be home all day (thanks Amazon Prime :joy:). I then waited around until Hubitat/Camect announced a package was delivered (again, this time to the front door despite instructions!) and that an Amazon truck was detected (thanks again to Hubitat!).
I ran out, caught the delivery guy, and in a friendly way explained how many packages I had had stolen, and that I understood how they must be under a a lot of pressure to get their deliveries out, but that how it has become a real hassle constantly having to worry about my packages, then the hassle of having to deal with Amazon customer service. I asked if he was that designated delivery guy for our neighborhood (he said he was but that he was probably not the only one of course). By making a “connection” with him and getting to meet him in a pleasant way face-to-face (he was actually a pretty nice guy) he said that at least when he was making deliveries to my house, he would check the delivery instructions. Lo and behold, my next two deliveries were delivered to the more secure location at the back entrance per my instructions! I made sure to give him very positive reviews on the delivery survey. Hopefully, this will continue to be the case going forward (at least for a while). I have hope for humanity after all :+1:. Again, thanks to Hubitat for helping facilitate this!

(Now, the only other way Hubitat can help me out is that I need the Hubitat staff to get back to me on problems I am having with my Zigbee radio…crickets from them for 6 months now :stuck_out_tongue_closed_eyes: on another thread).
