Setting up. my hubitat and undefined devices appeared

I have 114 LR devices with unknown status. I don't know why or how to get rid of them. On my Beartooth Hub. I was trying to add a smart start for a Zooz Outdoor LR 800 outlet, and I think it failed every time, adding an undefined device. I am stuck
until I get this solved.

Wow, you are a persistent fellow, it appears as if you tried to add the device over 100x? If you don't have many Z-wave devices, I'd say reset your Z-wave network, you will lose ALL Z-wave devices and need to re-pair all Z-wave devices. I say this because removing over 100 ghosts will likely fail, and if not, take you days.

Hold on. This is long range. What's the requirement for ZWJS? C8Pro? Doesn't that potentially allow easier removal? Still, 114... Anyway, if it's LR, does it matter how many ghosts, since it's all spoke and wheel?

What the heck is Beartooth?

How about deleting the plug from SmartStart first, so it doesn't immediately start the joining after the next step.
Then do a factory reset on the plug (only, lol).
Then hit Refresh on one of the failed items.
Maybe hit Refresh a few, or more than a few times, until you get a Delete option.
Then delete that one, and move on to the other 113.

Again, though, with LR, it might not even make a difference.

Still have to get that pesky Zooz plug joined though. I haven't had any problems.
Did you bring it inside, I hope.

You know this, but again, make sure it's been deleted in smart start first, factory reset it, scan the qr, and only then power on the plug. If it's inside near-ish the hub, it can't be a bad thing.

I have 45 dervices added so far. I did not try 100 times to add the outdoor plug. I scanned the QR code and the device did not finish including. I think that smart start tried 114 times to add it and failed each time creating these undefined devices. I saw multiple attempts in the logs.

My concern at this time is why did it flood the zwave db with so many devices and will it do it again if I try to include that plug again.

I currently have 5 hubitats running is three houses. My largest installation have over 250 devices. I have been working with Habitat for several years and I am pretty good at deleting ghosts using Silicon Labs software. I was hoping someone at Hubitat could access this server and delete the invalid entries. Its going to be alot of work to start over and its going to be alot of work to remove the undefined devices.

I found this post which seemed similar. I don't know of my problem is related: [quote="dconklin, post:1, topic:158307, full:true"]
Model: Hubitat C-8
Platform version: 2.4.3.137
Issue: After every inclusion I get phantom "Unknown LR" nodes (0x011A–0x0127).
I cannot access /hub/zwave/radio (404) and have no option to disable Z-Wave Long Range.
Request: Please perform a Z-Wave NVR Erase and disable the LR flag on my hub.

It is the name of my development and the name of the server with the problem I have 4 other Hubitats servers running.

I guess you need C8Pro to run zwjs reliably. Zwjs would let you delete those ghosts in all likelihood. I did read of someone with a C8 who successfully used it for this. However, maybe those LR ghosts aren't doing any harm because of LR spoke and wheel design they can't mess up mesh. Are rules working normally?

I once created ten long range ghosts at one time. Only way I got rid of them was with ZWJS when it came out on the c8pro. Was only unsightly-everything worked.

Could you please share the platform version, hub model and the mobile app version and operating system. They are very important elements when attempting to solve a problem with your hub.

Platform Version
2.4.4.156
Hardware Version
C-8 Pro
App Software version
2.1.60
Phone
iPhone 17 Pro Max
IOS Version
26.4.2

Not if you pay attention to the logs and stop it if it starts going nuts. Each ghost device is probably a pairing attempt gone bad. Since it was smartstart it must have been failing and then restarting again on its own. I would not be THAT fast, it would have taken probably 5-10 minutes to create all those nodes.

Pretty sure that's not possible.

Have you even attempted to remove the ghost entries yourself? First disable or delete that device in SmartStart. Then see if you can delete any of those nodes. For some reason with Zwave JS regular mesh nodes are easier to delete but LR nodes can get stuck. Switching to legacy ZIP may actually allow you to remove stuck LR nodes.

Interesting.

Can you please make sure you update to the latest platform version. 2.5.143 has a lot of enhancements that could make things easier.

Zipgateway is know to do this sometimes..

You are correct.. It's not possible..
