Set up help - RGBgenie Controller ZB-5028

Here is what I have so far:

  • 1 RGBenie model 5028 controller installed
  • 1 SYLVANIA LED strip installed
  • 1 SYLVANIA LED bulb installed
  • 1 Scene to turn both LED lights to Red mapped to S2 (Group: Lights)
  • 1 Scene to turn both LED lights to White mapped to S1 (Group: Lights)
  • 1 Group created with both lights (Group Name: Lights)

Here are the issues:

  1. I was not able to activate the scenes from the SB buttons on the controller after setting up everything. I had to change the SB button child devices to allow it to capture the scene. Then enter Hue, Level, etc. on the device page, then capture the scene via controller (hold SBx).
  2. The SB button sets the group to red/white, but not the individual lights.
  3. The "button pushed" attribute never changes, but logs show it is being pushed:

  4. Scene activation through dashboard and controller is not making the actual devices turn white or red.
  5. The "button pushed " attribute is not changing state when either the dashboard or controller is used.
  6. The scene status in Apps changing from "not set" to On?
  7. Using scene tiles and controller all-on/off does not always turn off the Lamp device.
  8. SB1 and SB2 on controller are not changing scenes. This works for awhile after capture, then stops working and I have to do it all over again. I don't understand why the HE scene is not being mapped correctly to the SBx buttons on the controller.

Examples:
SB2 = Turn lights red. Note button pushed does not change to 2.

SB1 = Turn lights white. Note individual light devices do not change.

To enable scenes, the scene capture preference in the parent needs to be enabled.
Scene capture can only capture the states of the zone children, it isn't capable of capturing the states of real devices.

I don't know what this means, did you mean that you changed the driver for the child device?, if so that's not going to work as expected.

To use scene capture and restore with this controller, the scene must be set from the controller.
Lets start simple with 4 color bulbs.
Install the mirror app, create a mirror me instance for each zone child, assign a separate bulb to each one.
Now using the controller, select each zone and set the desired state of each bulb, once completed press and hold one of the three scene buttons to capture that scene, set each zone again, then press and hold the next scene button.
A single click of a scene button will restore the state of the captured scene.

@YapFlapper Feel free to give me a call at 520-338-8849 and I am happy to walk you through the process.

@mike.maxwell
This is what I was referring to. I misspoke. It was the parent device, not the child devices.

I already did what you suggest. Those problems still are there.

Thanks Sean. I will take you up on that.

@mike.maxwell I am getting a java error for the group I created with the LED strip and Bulb. Any idea why?

Is this the correct type?

From the device details page for the group device issue a setSaturation 100 command, that error should go away.
