I have several Cree bulbs and have been happy. But I needed a new one, and two came bad out of the box. I have seen many recommendations for Sengled bulbs, Received my first one today and am a bit disappointed. It appears to lack one favorite feature - the ability to restore the last state on power restore. This is very helpful when power dips occur. When power goes off and then is restored, my Cree bulbs will briefly come on, but then go back to Off, or to whatever previous setting they were.
I did try setting to the SEngled device to device type "Advance Zigbee bulb" like the Cree is using. But when power is restored, it does not recall last state, and come on to 100%.
Am I missing something on the Sengled bulb settings?
The "Advanced..." Zigbee bulb drivers work with a variety of drivers, including many that work with the "Generic..." equivalents, but Sengleds are not one. I don't believe there is a way to do this with these bulbs. The dedicated "Sengled..." drivers are the ones recommended for these.
If you're curious, I assume the underlying issue has something to do with the fact that, unlike most Zigbee bulbs, these do try to send an "off" message to the hub as a last-ditch effort when they actually turn off. So, on the bright side, the hub state is possibly more accurate if power is cut.
I also asked about this very situation, and was basically informed that Sengled bulbs (I have a number of the Element Plus), do not remember their state in the event of a power disruption.
Well, that is disappointing. There was a lot of positive reviews by the community because the Sengled do not try to be a zigbee repeater like Cree apparently does. I haven’t had any issues with that yet, but I was trying to avoid and just assumed the Sengled and it’s driver would be at least as good as Cree.
I have a Sengled Warm Dimmable bulb and I was able to change the power on behavior by switching the driver to Advanced Zigbee Bulb and then setting the preference.
I have that set as the driver. But it still comes on to 100% when power is restored, even if it was in the off state before power off. But the device status in Hubitat still shows off state.
My issue was actually the opposite. If power was restored to the bulb, it would stay off. When I changed the setting to not remember the state, it started turning on with power. So maybe this functionality is very hit or miss.
