Hello - I have been using these for quite a while and there appears to be some issue with these (from what I'm seeing)
They chew through batteries within a couple of months
They periodically drop off the zigbee network and will sometimes be fixed by "re-pairng" them but more often need a battery replacement.
I have many repeaters scattered around the house (at least 3 IKEA TRÅDFRI
Signal repeaters, 1 Samsung zigbee plug, 1 Jasco Zigbee plug) and the sensors are all in different locations.
Has anyone had success with these? Are there better zigbee or zwave (small size) contact sensors that you would recommend? Thanks for your help
I have a few of these and they have been rock solid for me. I did notice the batteries they came with did not last at all but replacement batteries have lasted over two years. They are also very small cells so they report pretty low baterry numbers but seem to keep going.
I purchased these in Jan 2021 - Energizer
And these in Aug 2024 - Panasonic
I have 3 sengled sensors and I still have 3 of the panasonic batteries left.
If you can't get the Sengled sensors issues fixed try either the Third Reality Contact Sensors from Amazon if size isn't an issue or if you need a smaller sensor comparable in size to the Aqara I highly suggest you give the Moe's Door and Window Sensors a look. You can get them off AliExpress for like 6 bucks each. I have quickly become a fan of the Moe's and will most likely be my go to from here on out. I have about 15 of them working right now with zero issues.
I have 14 of these and had the same problem and it always happened they would quit reporting when they routed thru any GE / Jasco switch on my C8. I have moved them all to my C7 and they never fail whatever they route thru. Have asked about this more than once but never got an answer. These are the smallest contacts I have found.
Interesting... I'm trying to remember if I had the same issue with my C-5, but I don't remember. I do have 1 GE/Jasco dual plug and if it may be just easier to replace that.
Below is the routing map from my C-8 and it looks like the issue may be the 2 IKEA Repeaters outlined in RED (interview failed according to the community app)? The devices that are currently not responding are the Pantry Door Sensor and the Water Heater Leak sensor
I've been buying the Xfinity Zigbee contact sensors for a few years now, and I have had no issues with them. They are always cheap, like right now you can get 10 of them on Ebay for only $40.
They pair initially as a Zigbee glass break sensor. Then I just go into the device page and change the type to Generic Zigbee contact sensor and press config on the command page.
I've had bad experiences with Sengled Bulbs and their 4 button device. The plugs are fine. Sorry never used the contact sensors. IMHO sengled is hit or miss for me. The button controller is so bad , I'm surprised it made it out of QA. The buttons are hard to actuate and hard to tell if they're pressed, oh and it falls off the mesh. My 100 other Zigbee devices are fine
I think my issue may have been the two IKEA repeaters that had fallen off the Zigbee network. I reset and paired them again and the devices that had fallen off suddenly started working
