I just purchased the C-8 Pro. I have 32 Sengle Element Classic Bulbs connected. I just added
two more, then some of the other stop responding. I remove the last two and everything works correctly. Is there a limit on how many Bulbs I can Add? I purchased the C-8 Pro hub to replace the Sengle Hub which is now a paper weight. Thank for any advise.

Unlike almost all other mains-powered devices (I can't think of any other exceptions), Sengled bulbs are not repeaters in the zigbee mesh, so they are each an "end device" from the hub's perspective.
IIRC, the zigbee protocol has a limit where it can only talk directly to ~30 devices (or something along those lines), so you'll need to add several well-positioned main-powered devices to act as repeaters for your mesh.
The key is to always build your zigbee or z-wave mesh by adding repeaters first - that way, the 30-device limit won't ever really a factor because each repeater can handle 30 devices itself, and so on and so on That's the beauty of the mesh concept - you can actually have hundreds of zigbee or z-wave devices in a healthy mesh.
Something as simple as a zigbee plug can act as a repeater for your zigbee mesh - it just has to be mains-powered (not battery).
You'll need to remove some of your bulbs in order to get your repeaters in.
I thought I read here ( before I purchased the C-8 Pro ) could handle 50 to 60 bulbs where the C-7 could not. Before the Sengle Cloud went down I had all my 42 Sengle classics on my one Sengle Hub. Is the difference the Sengle Hub use the router's WiFi and the C-8 Pro talks to the Bulbs on it's own radio waves. Is that the reason I need to Form a zigbee mesh.
Thanks
In this thread bobbyD states that the C-8 pro has a limit of 64, for older hubs the limit is 32.
You can theoretically do 64 end devices (such as Sengled bulbs) without a router/repeater on a C-8 Pro -- if all network conditions are ideal -- but it's a bad idea:
Thanks for the reply. Just Read the bobbyD. So if I am right I need to form the Zigbee mesh
to make it more stable to add the rest of my Classic bulbs. Thanks
Thanks. Its been confusing reading on this stuff about Sengle and Zigbee.
On Amazon do I look for a plug made by Zigbee?
Hide 4 of these around your home. For $7.75 each, you can build a solid mesh for your bulbs: THIRDREALITY Smart Plug 4 Pack, 15A Smart Outlet with Timer Function, Zigbee Repeater, ETL Certified, Requires ZigBee Hub, No Power Meter - Amazon.com
Just went to Amazon. Do I need the Zigbee Hud or does the C-8 Pro takes It's place. Thanks
Connect the plugs directly to you Hubitat hub. You do not need the Third Reality Hub. Have them spaced evenly around where your bulbs are concentrated. You will be good.
You don't need another hub. You connect these outlets to your Hubitat hub. Once the devices are connected, the bulbs will find them and will start communicating to the hub by sending messages to these outlets, then the outlets will forward the message to the hub. Just remember not to unplug the outlets accidentally, otherwise your bulbs will (likely) stop working and your Zigbee network will become unstable.
Thank you everyone for the quick answers. Living on fixed income as a senior citizen.
Next check will purchase the plugs. Thanks again everyone.
Good nite
Shout out to Bobbyd and everyone else.
Purchased the plugs during the prime day sales. I think they were $5 off. That worked ![]()
. Thank you everyone. Had to disable the Alexa shill also then re link to the hub so Alexa would see the new bulbs. ![]()
