I don't have any smart bulbs yet. If I get these do I need their hub? Or will HE find these on its own?
These will direct connect to the Hubitat Elevation hub. You will not be able to use the Sengled hub even if you were to buy it (assuming you want Hubitat to control the bulbs!).
You will want some Zigbee outlets spread around your house to act as Zigbee mesh network repeaters. The Sengled bulbs are not Zigbee repeaters, by design. This is a good thing as smart bulbs usually are poor Zigbee repeaters and are often turned off by a light switch or lamp switch. If they were Zigbee repeaters, cutting power to them would mess up the Zigbee mesh network.
I use Sengled Element Color Plus bulbs directly attached to my Hubitat hub. They have been problem free for months.
I have a TON of these connected up to HE as well. They have been solid the whole time!
