@bcopeland Has anyone successfully paired this lock to a C7? The device is found but gets stuck in initiation. I understand they are not supported but there is a driver for them and I have successfully paired several of these to the C5 for testing and they work perfectly.
I hate to buy 4 new locks if not necessary. The C5 hub is being used in another application and not an option for these locks.
Thanks in advance for any help that could be offered.
I have 3 of the older, non z-wave plus Schlage locks paired with my C-7. Two BE469NX and one FE469NX deadbolts. They all paired easily, but I did bring the hub close to each lock while pairing. I also had an FE599 lock that I could never get to pair. It always got stuck at the "initializing" stage. I finally gave up on it and bought a Kwikset Z-wave Plus lock that had no trouble pairing.
I had no trouble pairing my 2 BE469NX locks to my C-7 when I migrated from my C-5. I have since replaced the electronics with BE469ZP modules, had no trouble then, either. Well, to be honest, it wouldn’t pair any of the locks unless I had the hub within a couple feet of the locks. Yes, I understand that Hubitat, and many experienced users, say you must pair devices in place, and I understand the reason for that advice (routes are messed up unless paired in place), but pairing rarely works for me unless next to the hub. I follow up with z-wave repair, and the routes correct.
I have to use the old trick to bring the lock controller to Hubitat to pair with the Non-Zwave Plus Schlage locks once pared and put in the final destination they are working fine. I did the migration of the locks back in November for my mom.
Just moved one of these to my C7 this weekend, I had been running it on my ST hub through Hubconnect, I could never get it stable on my C5. It was also the furthest from my hub.
The C5 hub was on one end of the house and the lock on the other. I moved the ST hub to the other end and setup some devices on it to help with my mesh as things on that end of house were flaky. I have now removed everything from the ST hub replaced it with my C7, The C5 is still on one end and the C7 on the other. So the two running together using Hub mesh seems to be working Including the lock, and it seems to be working pretty well. It's a fairly old Schlage with 7.1 firmware.
Ok, under z-wave details do you have any ghosts? Due to several failed parings I had a shite-ton. Get rid of those first.
Once ghosts are gone, bring hub within a foot of the lock. 1st exclude then include. If the initializing continues after 5 mins, open a new browser window, go to z-wave details and look for the device with the corresponding hex code and click discover a few times. This should force a pairing. Also make sure that your lock has better than 7.8 firmware. Once done, use repeaters. One next to the hub and one as close to the lock as you can get it. Once everything is in plaace do a z-wave repair
disconnect the power to all your lock(S) shutdown hub from menu and disconnect power for 5 mins (pull from wall not usb) Power back up hub. Go to settings>>z-wave details. Find the ghosts, click remove (may take a few times) Once gone, repeat shutdown and disconnect power, power back up. Factory reset lock (hold schlage button while attaching power, green check mark will flash 3 times to confirm) Bring lock within 1 foot of hub, start pairing (make sure you start the hub before the lock or you'll be back where you started). It should pair fine.
If you don't see a "Remove" button, hitting Refresh (may take multiple times) should make the Remove button appear for ghost devices.
I too have an older Schlage BE468/9 deadbolt that I connected (first try) to my C7. Brought hub near (~3' or so) the lock and it paired up. It can be done!
Thanks again for the ghost removal help. I was able to remove 2 of them by hitting the refresh which updated with the remove button but have 1 that's reporting not responding. Any ideas on this one?
What is the next highest node? Probably, that device paired unsuccessfully to create the ghost, then paired successfully. You won’t be able to remove the ghost as long as the device that created the ghost has power, because it will respond to pings.. Remove power to that device, hit refresh a few times on the ghost, you will get the Remove button on the ghost, then you can remove it. Then apply power back to the device.
If that doesn’t work (almost always does), you will need a USB stick & PC Controller.
Not sure this was the correct procedure but I refreshed the 1 above the ghost, then refreshed the ghost and it came back pending with a remove option, hit remove and it's gone. Thanks again to all that contributed to helping me solve this problem.
