Schlage 469 Lock Pairs Without Issue, but won't respond to any command

Hey all, sorry for yet another Schlage lock post. I've poured over all the various posts on the topic and followed all the suggestions as best as possible, but experiencing an issue that I don't see addressed and wondering if an expert has a clue what is happening and how to resolve.

We have a Schlage 469ZP says it's on firmware 0.11.0, and a C7 Hub. In the process of moving everything from ST to HE.

I've excluded, excluded, reset, reset, turned around 3 times and pat head, etc.. batteries 100%, HE sitting right next to the lock... so all the suggestions followed...

After doing all of the above, and adding lock as Generic Z Wave, the lock is immediately seen, pairs, then asks if we want to pair with security, I say yes, enter the DSK code, and again it immediately responds, pairs, flashes that it's happy, asks me to name the device, door beeps, and then it appears in devices... so it SEEMS like the pairing is happening smoothly - all of the above is fast and with no issues.

But, after the above, the lock appears in HE as simply "Device"... I can change it to either Generic Z-Wave lock and save, and/or to the Schlage 469 Lock drier and save.

The problem is that after this successful pairing, the lock doesn't respond to anything. I can hit 'configure', 'lock', etc - and live LOGS show it sending the command, but lock doesn't respond to any request to HE. One one of the pairings it did report a 100% battery, but still didn't respond to configure, lock, etc...

What am I doing wrong? Attaching screenshots showing it's paired, and the logs.

Should I not be pairing it "with security?" should I try to pair without?

I did see another post about this same issue and it was resolved by pairing directly next to the lock, but I've done that, I've got the HE hub sitting 1 foot away from the lock...

Thanks for any help!

Hubitat will force you to pair all locks with security and you want it to. Can you post a copy of your z-wave details page in it's entirety?

Tagging @support_team.

In the meanwhile, try excluding the lock, then power-cycling the hub, and pairing once again.

I've done that about 2 million times. I've reset/reboot hub, reset/exclude lock, all about 50 times. Every time the lock pairs immediately without issue and appears as a device, I just can't ever get it to respond to any request after the successful pairing.

Sure here are Wave Details. As you can see this is a brand new HE setup, as we are now retiring ST and moving to HE, and this is the very first item we'd like to add. I have an Aeotec 6 Extender added. I've tried to do the lock pair with the aeotec added as a device and without it, and both ways, the lock still does the same thing - it pairs immediately then won't respond to the HE.

Thank you for the quick response!

I didn't say reboot. Have you power-cycled the hub? Removing power from the z-wave radio "resets" it from any funky state it might have got into. Rebooting doesn't do that.

Click firmware update at the top. After you're done, shut down the hub, unplug power for 5 mins and power back up. See how it behaves.

Sorry, not a reboot, but yes, a power cycle. I've read it's bad to just unplug and plug it back in, so I've gone to settings, done a shutdown, pulled the power, then powered back up. Have done this to move the hub closer and further away from lock (it's now 2 feet away from the lock). Lock always immediately responds (green checkmark) to exclude requests and then include and pairs with security. It just never responds to HE after that.

Ok, trying that now. Fingers crossed. Have spent 4 hours on just this lock including, excluding, moving, power cycles, etc. I don't understand why it will pair, include/exclude without issue (seems that's usually what people have problems with), but then just won't respond to HE after that at all. Logs show requests, but lock never responds to them. Is it not fully pairing even though it says it is? Firmware updating now...

You're a genius, thank you! It seems the Firmware update did the trick. Just so I better understand what we just did, was that updating firmware on the lock?

On the hub's z-wave radio.

Thank you... so it's not actually updating firmware on any devices, just the hub? I only ask because when I started the process by hitting the button, a dialog popped up that said "Device firmware update not allowed" (or something like that, didn't write it down or take screenshot), and just as I thought "oh crap, this isn't going to work", the dialog refreshed with a new one that said "updating firmware" and that took a while. This made me think it was stepping through the devices themselves, and that one couldn't update but the next one did... no?

Those locks dont have firmware updates available for them
