Samsung Cooktop with HE

Hi all, I just bought a Samsung Cooktop (NZ30K6330RS) which has WiFi connection to SmartThings app. The app doesn't do much other that showing each burner is on/off. But this is a good things if you have kids at home. I just wondering if there is an easy way to port that into HE? I don't have a SmartThings Hub. But as I get more Samsung appliances, I may consider to buy one for integration if required. I read other threads that said HubConnect may do this. But I am not clear if that is only for dimmers/switches/etc.. rather than appliances. Can someone shed some lights on what I need (SmartThings Hub? HubConnect?)? And point me how to start? Thanks!

Login to SmartThings IDE and select you location then go to devices and find your cooktop. Click on it and then post a screenshot of the fields. From that I can let you know what device driver to use in HubConnect. If it's a cloud integration and already working in the app you probably don't need a smartthings hub.

@lewis.heidrick, Thanks for your help. Here is the screenshot.

Will be a bit before I can get back to you. Work is getting kind of crazy at the moment.

Sure things. No rush all. Thanks again for your help.

Can you click on List Events and post a screenshot?

I just turn on the burner off and on few times. But List Event said "No events found matching this criteria".

Hmm and in the app it is showing the correct state when it is on vs off? Does anything show when you select all?

Yes, the app update the change status almost instantly.

Currently in the events you have displayed selected. Try clicking all so I can see which attributes are being populated.

The only event logged is deleted the device and add back.

Open up apps in Hubitat and select HubConnect Server. Click Manage Custom Drivers.

Click Add a driver

Configure these settings and click save.

Go back into the driver you just configured and then click Create Hubitat Driver at the bottom.

Highlight all the code and copy it to clipboard.

Click Next, Next to exit and then go to Drivers Code in Hubitat

Click New Driver and paste the code in and then click save.

You can add other attributes as well from the list in your Smartthings IDE page. Some may not have any data in them just fyi. Hopefully someone with more experience creating custom drivers will chime in as I haven't needed to do this for any of my devices because they already existed.

Hi Lewis, Thanks for the detail instructions and screenshots, very helpful and easy for me to follow. However, I think I am missing something here. As mentioned in the beginning, I currently don't have HubConnect. So, before I start with your steps, I need to install HubConnect first. I did installed the "HubConnect Server for Hubitat" and "HubConnect Server Instance" Apps Codes; and the "HubConnect Remote Hub" Driver Code. When I go into the "HubConnect Server for Hubitat" app, I suppose I need to establish a connection with the SmartThings Cloud account right? How do I do that? The only option there is for me to connect to a Remote Hub asking me the private LAN IP address. I tried to specify "Type of Remote Hub" is SmartThings, it gives me the Connection Key, but I don't have a SmartThings Hub to put in the Connection Key. It seems like nowhere I can connect to the cloud account with Login ID and Password. I am lost here with the connectivity, Help please!

Perhaps post in the HubConnect thread. I didn't do mine without the ST hub but there are quite a few that have and have the details to get it working. @aaiyar has some good info for using ST without the hub.
