Samsung Buttons? $$$$!?

Just received Samsung ST button from Amazon for $14.95USD.
Began to order another and the price is now $49.95 . WTF?!!! That brings that project to a screeching halt.

Figuring this is going to be blamed on COVID too. That seems to be the go-to excuse for most every price increase lately. Was there a "fire in the factory"? Must have missed that memo.

Samsung appears to have discontinued the button, along with most of their SmartThings hardware. The hub is being transferred to Aeon Labs, for example, and at least some other hardware appears to be too. So, what you're seeing are likely secondary market prices. What will happen in the future--new versions, Aeon selling possibly rebranded identical hardware, or total discontinuation--remains to be seen.

Have a look at the Sonoff ones. Great price point and stay connected to HE with no issues.

Damn... Bad timing on my part. Well, at least I got four of them. Alternatives are absurdly priced. Aqara buttons require another hub. :man_shrugging: Knowing Aeon as I do, they'll rebrand and sell it for $45.95. Scrapping that and moving on to other efforts. Thanks for input.

I know it requires another "hub," but lots of people here are fans of Lutron Pico Remotes. The Lutron Smart Bridge Pro you need to get started isn't cheap (used to be easily found around $99, but it seems to be higher now), but Picos are so cheap that you'll balance out if you get enough. You might like their reliability either way, though.

The Xiaomi/Aqara buttons you found can be paired directly to Hubitat (unless you're taking about ones I'm not familiar with), but you have to be careful to use only "Xiaomi-friendly" repeaters.

The Sonoff buttons mentioned above are also pretty cheap, can be paired directly to Hubitat, and would probably work about as well as the ST button if you don't need temperature reports (which they don't do). They won't win any design awards, but it's probably the least offensive design among all of Sonoff's Zigbee hardware if that matters. (Ordering directly from them at itead.cc is usually cheapest in my experience, by the way, as long as you don't mind waiting for shipping.)

Thanks! Searching Amazon now.

FWIW: I found one for $18 on Amazon. They are $8 directly from Sonoff and not much more with (albeit slow...) shipping.

I felt lucky to snag 2 Samsung buttons a couple days ago on Amazon for 14.99 a piece. I use picos for a lot of things, but these buttons are nice. I have considered picking up the sonoff, but like @bertabcd1234 said, the design is a bit lacking.

"...the design is a bit lacking": That's charitable. I heard the words "butt ugly"? :stuck_out_tongue_closed_eyes: To be sure, but beggars can't... etc.
I just ordered one.

Look at Aqara Opple buttons. From 16-20 USD and work great.
