When I create a new rule, there is no button to "run this rule", but if I come back to edit it, that option is presented. Might be just an oversight, or perhaps it is intentional. Just a comment for consideration.

You can't run the rule until it has been installed. You install it initially by hitting Done. After that, you can run it with that button. If you change any conditions you would need to hit Update Rule to capture those.
Just a quick question on this.
If I was to change any conditions but didn't hit the update rule button and just save it, what would happen.
Does the update button need to be pressed or does saving it just do the same thing.

If by 'save' you mean hitting Done, that updates it. What the Update button does is the same as Done, without leaving the rule.
