I have the latest firmware and a fresh C5 hub. I’ve installed rule machine and the child rule will not save after defining the name.
It just acts like it’s saving but never returns.
Any suggestions on how to fix this?

Have you tried a different browser, or a private browsing window?
Other things like Simple Automations or Motion Lighting saving correctly?
Yup everything else saves fine. It’s Just rule machine
And the browser thing?
Yes all browsers
I am going to tag @bravenel who is the expert at Rule Machine. Maybe he has a suggestion. If he does not pop here shortly, I would email support and get a trouble ticket started.
Meanwhile, anyone else have an idea???
Yeah, uninstall rule machine and reinstall. If you already have rules made you want to save and this is a new problem, then export the existing rules first.
Perhaps we could see a screenshot of the Rule just before you try to save? Rule Machine has a bunch of states that it goes through as actions, triggers, conditions, etc., are defined, and won’t let you proceed until you have done what it wants. Or, perhaps this is something with a weird character in a variable name (there is a recent bug on that).
Rule Machine 4.0 or 4.1?
Finally, which firmware version? Simply saying “latest version” leaves some ambiguity, especially this week when we have had, what 200 updates?
Really, though, the forum is used not only to solve your immediate issue, but also to help others, both now and months in the future, who are searching for solutions to their issues. Because “latest version” won’t be meaningful to those in the future, I t helps to document exactly what version firmware you are using when you see this issue.
I’ve actually tried that as well. I even did a soft reset on my hub to clean everything. Luckily this is just a hub I use to test on, so it’s not really breaking anything, it’s just stoping me from testing out some ideas.
I’ll open a ticket if it keeps up.
You mean it's gone, or you're still having the issue? Any error on screen (i.e. 500 error?).
Did you open a log while you're trying to save to see if there's anything?
Still exists, it’s just not something that I think is going to get resolved without the help of support. I just found I can work around it by navigating to applications while it’s still trying to save. When I do that the name doesn’t show up for the rule, it just says Rule-4.1. If I edit that rule everything is there and saving the changes again let’s me move forward.
No errors and nothing in the log.
How many times have you soft reset? Might be worth trying another. Don't restore a database. Just get it going again, install RM and see if it acts the same.
2 times both without a restore. I wanted a clean hub when I started.
Oh and the second time I installed rule machine with no devices on the hub to see if it would let me create a rule with nothing else on it. Still the same issue.
So nothing you need to keep on the radios?
There was nothing on the radios to begin with. This hub was mostly used to test hub to bridge integrations.

Sounds to me like you are getting out of rule editing without hitting done, and without naming the rule, such that the rule isn’t in a finished state yet.
That’s the only way to work around the issue I am having.
What trigger are you using??
I was having this issue the other day when I was trying to use days of the week trigger but I only wanted to define a time on Monday through Friday.
It was working until I edited it
It was a RM 4 so I redid it in 4.1 and still no go.
Looks like a temporary bug that is know.
I’m not even getting to the point where I configure the trigger. I am just assigning a name in the name field. The other information isn’t even populated yet.
