Roomba and room information?

Is there any way to integrate with Roomba(I have S9), so that Hubitat can know when is Roomba running and more importantly, in which room. This way, i can ensure that the room lights are on while Roomba is running.

Probably a dumb question, but can't Roomba "see" in the dark? Doesn't it use infrared and touch sensors?

No, this model does not rely on lidar but uses camera(vision) to map the navigation path and geo-locate surrounding.

Motion sensors at floor level to get triggered when Roomba is moving?

Hmm, two thoughts to that

  1. I do have motion sensor (sonoff) in some of the rooms on walls, but doesn't most motion sensors rely on heat signatures? Might not get trigerred by Roomba?
  2. There are many rooms which Roomba may run, so adding new motion sensors in all rooms just for roomba will be a big pain, expense, and extremely bad WAF
  1. You're probably right. Put a lit candle on top of the Roomba.

  2. WAF trumps all.

Sorry I'm not more helpful...

My Robot Vac only runs for about 1.5hrs so I just have all the lights it needs go on when it starts and turn off again after its done. But yeah if I could get the room info from it (Shark, you cant) it would be cool to have it turn on just the light for the room it is in!

This is an old thread but waking it back up to check if anything might have changed since last time. Is it possible now to check when Roomba is running, and in which room?
