Room Lighting and Fading Over Time

Maybe this is a failing on my part but I am really struggling with the new Room Lighting app. I am trying to write an automation that turns on the lights in the early evening and then fades them over time as the evening progresses and then turns them off at a certain time. I had this previously working with a Scene, Transition and a Rule and would like to understand how to make this work in RL. Thank you for any help and advice.

You'd do it the same way. You could import your existing Scene and Transition into Room Lights (there would 2 instances of Room Lights). As before, you'd activate the Scene, and then activate the transition over time.

Thank you for the response. I am trying to not just import my existing rules to make myself learn how to use RL. I was able to get the transition to work but it would fade up when I am trying to get it to fade down which is confusing to me and I can't seem to make it work and I am sure that I am missing something basic about how to do it.

Yeah, I get that. Importing is a way to see how things get set up.

OK, I left something out in previous message. With Scene Transition there is a transition from scene A to scene B. Both of these get imported into RL when the Scene Transition is imported, and you can see one of them on the main page, and one on the Re-Capture page. When this is activated, it transitions from one to the other. There is an assumption that the starting scene of the transition is already set at the time the transition is activated (this is true of Scene Transition also).

I see that the legend says "(set up on Modes page)", which really is the "Set Up Lighting Periods" page, and that is missing a legend itself about the transition. But you found it.

The "Transition over 120 second" that is shown on the main page is the transition target, final settings, while the one shown on the other page is the starting point.

i finally figured t out and got my rule working. Thank you for your help and explanations.
