@bravenel I just noticed the ability to set the mode from a string variable which is great so had a play.
If the string is not a valid mode the rule gets irreparable broken with an unexpected error.
Do you mean that you can't open the rule without it throwing an error? Have you tried putting a valid mode into the variable to see if you can open it then?
I got unexpected error when trying to edit actions or variables. Not a biggie as I was just experimenting. But I thought it was worth reporting.

Ironically, it's a line of code that checks to see if the mode in the variable is valid or not.
