New to home automation and Hubitat. I’ve learned and done a lot the last few weeks thanks to this forum. I had most everything fully integrated and working well on a firehd 10 tablet with Fully kiosk side loaded.....
and then Rinnai had this crazy firmware update that completely screwed up the hot water recirculation. I previously had it automated through Alexa and worked nicely into Hubitat using echo speaks. Ever since the update the control-r does not work with Alexa, the schedules don’t work, and manually clicking recirculate in the app is hit or miss.
My temporary solution was to use tasker to click recirculate on my tablet any time the screen powers off with a 45 minute delay.
My question is this: Has anyone else come up with a better way to turn on recirculation with the new control-r 2.0? Has anyone heard whether Rinnai is working to fix the problem?
LOL, at least you go that far. The dang 2.0 firmware bricked my control-r unit and it shows blue like it is connected but I can't control it or factory reset it at all also shows disconnected in app. If I try a factory reset it blinks red/white instead of just white. Waiting for them to get back with me on my hosed one, so I would open a ticket with them to let them know of your problem and see what they say. It seems like an ongoing battle with my control-r module.
Crap I don’t know how to edit a post... anyway... all I wanted to say was to keep trying the factory reset. If I continued to hold the button it would flash red/white, but if I let go sooner than the recommended 45s it would just be white like it’s supposed to be. It took me quite a few tries but eventually I got it to work at least to some extent. It still sucks though.
Yeah mine won't do that. Blue > hold down button> red > green > immediately red/white, let go and in a few seconds, back blue. It won't reset. I was able to connect to it, adhoc, when it started red by letting go, the control 2.0 app will see it and say there is a software update then says downloading but not sure how in the heck it can download if the phone is connected to the adhoc control-r device. Apple really screwed the pooch on iOS 14 where you can't connect to an adhoc device then the app see it. I had to pull out an older android device that is wifi only so I gave up after messing with it over a hour. Had to do the same thing with my water filter several months back when trying to pair it.
It turns out that the problem was when it upgraded it tied to an old account so they were able to get it working. They added a webpage in the Control-R V2 firmware so you can change WiFi without having to blow out the unit anymore. You just press the connect button for 5 seconds until it turns red then connect to the Adhoc AP it creates, and open the webpage for the unit. Once I fixed the WiFi it was connecting to and customer service fixed the account it came online. I can see it now but can't control it, they said other users have reported that problem so they are working with the dev's on that one for a fix. Fun times.
