I have 10 of these contacts. All work great, except one. This one chews through batteries like crazy.
Anyone see issues like this with any of there’s? It’s not in a much different spot than others. Curious if I should unpaid and repair (maybe something wedged weird?) or… just replace it?
What is the location if the failing device vs the ones that work?
One thing that can burn through battery life is a poor RF connection such that messages need to be sent multiple times before the message is acknowledged.
If this is the situation, adding a repeater between the hub and the sensor might help. The Ring range extenders are good z wave repeaters.
I have a pretty solid mesh and lots of repeaters. Sensor that is/was misbehaving is right next to another that behaves fine (within 4’ on window next to it).
So far, it’s behaving better. But I really need to set up a battery indicator dashboard….
it's clearly got some issue. after closing and opening it the battery drops to like 40% then climbs back to 60%. =/
Just disassembled and hooked up to meter and bench power supply. It is drawing a constant 10mA. So yeah, it's defective. =/ Ordered a couple replacements (one to have spare). May try to figure out what's wrong... but clearly the chip isn't sleeping...
