Just updated to 2.1.4.119 from 2.0.8.113. All my "rule machine" rules read 2.5. I can't edit them (though I think they still work), and can't create any new rule 3 or rule 4 type rules.
For example, if I try to create a new "rule 4" type rule, I can give it a name...and nothing else. There are buttons saying "Select Trigger Events" and "Select Actions to Run", but pressing those buttons does nothing at all! Similar if I try to edit an old 2.5 rule.
2.0.8 to 2.1.4 is a large hop from my point of view. What I mean is, my hub has been hit with a lot of step wise upgrades and I don't have an "Edit 2.5 Rules" problem.
In other words, there's no intentional effort to block 2.5 Rules as far as I can tell.
Yeah, I don't play with my hub much. Don't have a lot hooked up to it, and what I have works. So it wasn't until the other day I saw there was a substantial update.
Any ideas on what I can try? I'd be happy to to back to 2.0.8, then work my way up through a few updates if necessary. If, that is, you can point me to a repository of firmware updates to try.
I would certainly rotate back to 2.0.8 and verify everything works and make a backup to put on your PC. That protects you a little better than average.
RM v4 should just plain ol' work, since that's such a big portion of the latest. Have you sent an email to Support@Hubitat.com ?
You can also tag @bravenel because if anyone would know what stepwise changes there are to RM, it would be Bruce.
Not quite sure what you mean by "rotate back to 2.0.8", at least in terms of how I can do that if there is no repository of firmware. I DID do a backup before I updated, but restoring that doesn't seem to change anything. I suddenly see a 2.1.4.121, so I'm downloading that now. Guess I'll email support next. Thanks.
There is no reason that Rule 4.0 should not work, and your Rule 2.5 rules should still be editable. Something else is going on. Please contact support@hubitat.com.
Looks like it is related to my browser. I just tried Firefox on my Windows laptop and things seem fine. I recently loaded (but currently have disabled) some extensions in Firefox on my Linux box where I'm having all these problems. Either my extensions are interfering with the UI, or some fancy new UI features are breaking things on my browser. In any case, I now believe the issue is a UI/browser compatibility issue and not a problem in Rule Machine. If I can pin things down I'll be back in touch.
The Hub maintains a few versions of platform code on it's own. You can go back about 3 versions of what you've used. In other words, you would be able to roll back to 2.1.4.119 from today, and to 2.0.8.113 from "yesterday." And probably one more older one.
The mechanism has changed significantly between 2.0.8 and 2.1.4 but you can look in Settings:Backup and Restore to see a platform restore option:
