Repeated Zigbee group toggles seem to bog down after a bit

I just set up a simple Lutron system with one pico to test things. I will say it's very fast. One thing I noticed is that with a simple rule to toggle a group of 8 sengled recessed lights with "Zigbee Grouping Messaging On" and "optimization off" is that over a series of clicks to toggle on/off the lights seem to get a little flaky/lag behind sometimes not work at all. If I wait before turning on/off then it seems to work better.

At first I thought it was the pico - with it's fast responses but I see the behavior using alternate devices like a smartthings button and even on the Amazon Echo. The Echo is less pronounced since it is a slower interface.

Things work at first but then progressively get less responsive. Is this normal behavior? Also sometimes the zigbee responses seem better on the 2nd action not the first. I guess there is some sort of "wakeup" thing going on.

I have no more peanut plugs on my main hub where this is occurring. Also RTR app has started rebooting my hub around 3 am again - but that could be unrelated.

The getChildAndRouteInfo page looks good at least to me anyway, nothing jumping around etc. No children, neighbor entries with high LQI etc.. but I'm not really experienced enough about that to know for sure.

My main hub is a C4.

Note: I can live with this for the most part but it is somewhat annoying/interesting.

I have a lot of zigbee groups of lights and don’t see this behavior. Only one of my groups is Sengled, but it usually seems more responsive after a few on/off cycles. I would recreate the group device and see if it is better since that has worked for me in the past. I have optimization on btw.

@erktrek

Have experienced this - once in a while. I just put it down to occasional zigbee weirdness. Recently, using recommendations from @Ken_Fraleigh and @Ryan780, I removed all Peanuts from my zigbee mesh.

The issue has disappeared. Coincidence? Could be - because I also powered down the zigbee radio and let the mesh self-heal. If it doesn't come back in a month, then I'll know it was the Peanuts for sure.

Okay will try that - it's definitely strange behavior. I have 8 sengleds in the group..

Sometimes like you I get a slower response at the beginning then it improves but then after a bunch of rapid clicks things start to degrade. Some lights turning off, some fading, some remaining on. Sometimes the clicks don't register at all.

Turning Zigbee messaging off definitely makes it worse.

Yeah I removed all mine as well.

Although the last one - even after removal yesterday still seems to be hanging around as a null device on the edge, just checked. Maybe that has something to do with it. Will physically remove and wait a bit to see what happens.

I found that just turning the zigbee radio off and on will clear the router table and the null devices.
