I renamed a few Google Home devices/moved them around to different rooms using the Google Home app. I don't know how to get Hubitat to refresh the Google devices?
I tried Apps, Google Home, Update and Done but it didn't change anything.
Perhaps I'm misunderstanding the question, but rooms & names you assign w/in GH do not (and cannot) flow back to Hubitat -- that's all just done w/in the GH app and that's where it stays.
All you can do with the HE-GH integration is add/remove compatible devices to GH.
Then how do I get Hubitat to recognize the new names? I selected all the Google Home devices from the Hubitat, selected Delete and Hubitat acts like Google Home has no more integration. I confirmed by asking Google to turn off the kitchen lights and it didn't know how to do it. So I use the Google Home app to allow the integration and Hubitat is still showing me the old names. I can turn off the kitchen lights but all the devices I changed the names for are still not updated.
This is really confusing. Using the Google Home app I unlinked my Hubitat integration. When I integrate again it brings up a dialog box with the heading oath.cloud.hubitat.com. It shows me all my Google Devices with the OLD names. Is that cloud actually hubitat or is it connecting to my Hubitat to get the data for the device names?
You cannot. You are trying to change your hubitat devices names by using GH. Like @hydro311 said, this is not possible. Changing names in GH only does it in GH, nowhere else. By deleting the hubitat devices in GH you are in fact deleting all your names changes you did in GH. Again this will NOT be reflected in Hubitat. To do what you want you have to change the names in Hubitat and they will be updated automatically in GH (provided you did not created an alias in GH (meaning: change names in GH).
You have this backward. GH always pick-up the names from Hubitat, not the reverse. When you "change" the name in GH you only create an alias for the device (in GH only).
Changing names GH --> Hubitat won't work. You have to change the name in hubitat: Hubitat --> GH.
It's a Lenovo clock with a display and the other device is a Google Max speaker.
I'm still not comfortable with your answer. How does Hubitat initially get the names when you first set it up? It has to get them from Google. So if I delete the Google Max speaker for example from Hubitat how is it managing to get the old name for the speaker? Why doesn't get it the current name?
You mentioned using going to apps, Google Home and then updating. The Google Home app doesn't do the integration from Google to Hubitat. It does the integration from Hubitat to Google.
What app are you using to bring those devices into the Hubitat? Maybe the Chromecast beta app? That's where you need to look.
Nothing you have mentioned so far explains how you got Google Home devices into Hubitat. As is mentioned above multiple time, Hubitat Integration on Google home serves only one purpose. Add Hubitat Devices on to Google Home. One way only.
No one is explaining then how Hubitat gets the Google devices name. When you first set this up, you link Hubitat to the Google Home app. With no other effort every Google Home device is shown in the Hubitat. So somehow Hubitat is getting the names from Google. I deleted the Google device from Hubitat. When I go to add it back in, this link is shown: oauth.cloud.hubitat.com and it shows me all the Google devices with the OLD names. Somewhere it's not updating the device names. So who is holding the old device names?
You have got something very wrong. No way does Hubitat get Google devices by simply integrating Hubitat into Google home. It has been said multiple time above. Hubitat does NOT get Google Home devices by simply adding Hubitat integration into Google Home.
This is what I am referring to, this list of devices from the Hubitat app menu for Google Home. I highlighted in yellow the device name (ALiving room speaker) that I renamed on the Google Home app. I'm not typing that name into Hubitat, where is it getting it from? If I delete the device in Hubitat and bring that menu back up it still shows that same device name.
None of my 6 GH speakers show up in that device listing for my HE GH app, so I don't know how your GH speakers are getting in that list...
Are you additionally using the Chromecast beta app or some other comunity GH-related app within Hubitat? If so, my guess is those names are getting pulled into that listing by that other app.
