Removing ZWave Associations from ZEN34 remote

Last week, for the first time in all the years of using Hubitat hubs, I used Associations to have two Zooz Zen34 remotes control the bathroom light dimmer.

Well, what would you know, that dimmer needed to be urgently and unceremoniously replaced with a forced zwave removal.

The problem: I cannot delete the associations from the buttons to add associations to the replacement dimmer. I need to go from 4E to 0D.

Any suggestions on how to fix this, short of excluding, factory resetting, and re-including?

Of course, despite an hour of trying, it only takes a few minutes after asking for help for the issue to resolve itself.

It took dozens and dozens of attempts and 7 top button presses to remove the association, and dozens and dozens more of the same to assign the new associations.
