I have a Remotec ZXT-600 that I’m using to control my mini-split AC, and it’s working well. However, for simplicity, I’d like to continue using the original handheld remote. During testing, I noticed that when I turn the unit on or off with the handheld remote, it doesn’t update the status shown on the Remotec ZXT-600, which is currently running on batteries.
Any advice on how to synchronize the status between the handheld remote and the ZXT-600? Thank you in advance!
As Rick mentioned, any solution that sends an IR signal to a mini-split A/C (or any other device) can only send information one way. Just like your IR remote that comes with the mini-split.
There’s no way to know if the command was received, and there’s no way to read the current state of the A/C if it was changed by some other means. It’s an annoying limitation.
Most mini-split manufacturers have an add-on module that allows for smart control, but they rarely work with outside services like Hubitat.
Call panasonic and find out if they have an interface module for a standard thermostat. If so you can use a zigbee or z-wave thermostat. I use them with my mini splits
Do you have more information about the interface you use? I searched online for information on Panasonic or other interface modules for mini-splits that communicate via Zigbee or Z-Wave. The only ones I found were IR to Zwave-Zigbee were similar to Remotec ZXT-600. Thank you
