[RELEASE] Tuya Zigbee Fingerbot

Would hot melt glue hold?
It could be loosened up with a hair dryer if desired.

thanks for the suggestions .. not in same house as the machine .. will try stuff in oct when i get home.. reason for this is i am supposed to be able to control power in remotely via the dac.. which has its own ip address but after 3 months it seems to fail requireing a power shutdown and reboot of the machine... then the dac works again for a few months.

The fingerbot comes with some sticky pads. I use one under the fingerbot and it has not comes loose.

Could (apparently) high battery drawdown be the result of a "chatty" device? Is it "chatty"?

I think this question is a valid one.

I broke open the device. The CR2 lithium battery was flat, at 2.68 Volts. As I said, I hardly use the device, and that's not a small battery. Needless to say I'll have to order some.

Is there any way at all to keep it in the pushed position. I just got one and it seems to always retract. IE - I don't want it to be momentary.

On my TZ3210_j4pdtz9v
On moves it down and Off moves it up when Preferences set in the Fingerbot Mode switch.

Duh. Thanks!

Hi. I have found that in Push mode, the plunger cannot be made to go through its full travel. That is, 0% up and 100% do not go all the way.

In Switch mode it is better.

I thought it was the battery, but it is not.

I used to have it on 70% down, and now 100% won't do it..in push mode.

Thanks.

edit: After repeatedly operating the device, I noticed the travel limits kept going up, and up, until my button could no longer be pushed. I would say this is a device shortcoming. I'm deleting it. Thanks.

I came across this post because I need a Fingerbot. In the link with compatible ones, is there any that is better than the others? Does the color matters? Thanks!

When purchasing Tuya devices (no matter whether you buy it from AliExpress or Amazon), it is a kind of a lottery what you will receive. They all look the same and they all work with Smart Life and Tuya hubs the same way, but the actual manufacturers of these devices may be different, which affects the integration to all non-Tuya hubs.

Just be careful to order a Zigbee version, there are cheaper BlueTooth fingerbots that can not be interfaced to HE.

V3.0.4 NullPointerException: null on line 1191
It could still receive updates from physical actions on the device. Commands were not sent or logged. It had been working well for 6 weeks since installing. Rebooting the hub resolved the issue.

I updated to ver. 3.3.0. Hopefully, that resolves the issue.

Let me know if see any exceptions in the log when using the latest version 3.3.0 (July 2024). If it works stable in your environment, I will push it for an update through HPM.

FYI
Started getting some Fingerbot errors in my logs.
Turns out the battery had died. New battery seems to have eliminated the errors. :crossed_fingers:

ver. 3.3.0 2024-07-01 kkossev

One of my fingerbots wasn’t pushing as hard as usual, so i changed the extension so it was closer to the button. That worked for awhile. I changed the up and down positions in the driver, all to no avail.

Gotta have them volts…a fresh battery solved it. Had to change the extension back to what it was before.

Problem is, the few methods of reporting the battery level aren’t accurate., especially with rechargeable batteries. But now I know.

My bad to not reply to you. 3.3.0 has been running without incident for me on two different hubs.

Thanks for the code @kkossev
Just paired 2 Fingerbots. One was having an issue but once i deleted it and re added - working perfectly.
Sadly my landlord wont met me install any proper switches so these serve a good purpose.

Bit of curious one. Occasionally the fingerbot wont actually press despite registering that it has done so in the events. When it works, it registers the “on” event as being triggered “digital”. When it didn’t work, it registers as being triggered “physical” - see below.

I’ve turned off the ability for the button to be operated physically.

It is triggered the same way by a simple button rule below.

Also I have a seperate rule that when the fingerbot is triggered, it flashes a bedside light to confirm it activated. This light flashes even when the fingerbot didn’t fire (registers as “physical”).

I’d be grateful if anyone has any ideas on what might be going on?

Cheers.

I know enough about fingerbots and HE to give terrible advice.

That being said, the Fingerbot does not actually report back that it moved. HE assumes it did.

I found my Fingerbots acted flaky when the battery got low. The batteries aren’t cheap so I use lithium ion rechargeable batteries.

Rechargeable batteries will report they are ok then they drop fast. Rechargeable is still cost effective for the CR123. I removed the guts from a Toyota key fob and have a rule that locks the car at 10pm.

Thanks. I think you may be correct. I’ve changed the batteries over and it now seems to be working fine.
