[RELEASE] Rachio Community (dashboard + hose timers)

I'm looking to do the same thing. You should be able to create a rule that only runs on Thursdays at 1am to setRainDelay with a parameter integer of 1. When you're done it will look like setRainDelay(1). I do this in webCoRE, so I'm not very familiar with Rule Machine.

Hi! I ended up with a rule that will send the stop watering command 5 mins after my schedule starts. I think this will work.

Quick update. My rule worked! :-). Thank you for pointing me in the right direction.

Hey @JustinL, I don't think this matters much, but I'll mention it anyway in case it's helpful to you or others...

Every week or two (-ish), I get an error in the logs that looks something like "_httpGet exception: Read timed out". I haven't observed any problems with irrigation or reporting, so I always just ignore it. I assume this is a periodic occurrence of an API read gone bad somewhere between my hub and the Rachio cloud. I've never noticed two in a row.

FWIW.

How do I Install Rachio Community Package via Hubitat Package Manager?

First install Hubitat Package Manager, using the link in this thread:

Use the installation instructions in this post (except use the link from @csteele's post):

Are these Instructions good enough?

https://hubitatpackagemanager.hubitatcommunity.com/installing.html

I guess it needs screen caps added to instructions to "Import"

I figured it out. I didn't realize that the package manager had to be downloaded as a user app... Once, I got it installed I just pasted in the git repo link
thx

now I just need to figure out how to use it?

I added screen caps to that Installing page. Ugly, but I'll look at "pretty" later

Mine is 1" black poly pipe on all supply lines with 5 rotary heads per zone. 2.5 gpm orifices in the heads, 1/2" reducer at each head/takeoff. The key is to make sure you have good pressure at the farthest head. That will help ensure uniform output from each head.

I would recommend against PVC. At least up here where we get deep frost (MN), you can almost guarantee it would break. I bet poly pipe is also cheaper and easier to get fittings for. For instance, I think the thread on my Hunter heads is a straight thread...NOT standard NPT. And there are no ridgid joints to glue...just bend the pipe (within reason) around corners and obstructions and push any tees or elbows together by hand. Easy peasy.

This is called a swing joint and can be purchased as a pre-assembled set.

And just for clarity, I'm just including my system's details as an example. I don't really trust that the joker who installed it took the time to do any design effort at all.

Hopefully this is still an active thread.
I bought a Rachio 3 today - i have it all connected to my wifi..schedules made and ready to do the HE integration. I do have some questions though if anyone could offer their throats.

  • i have all the schedules made in the Rachio App. I do like having everything on one platform though so what view or control do i actually get when i make the integration?
    Ability to water specific zones?
    Ability to see schedules?
    Ability to create schedules?
    etc.

  • There is a native Rachio App and a community one. Can anyone explain the difference between the two and let me know which one i should install?

  • Looks like some pretty neat icons for the dashboard. Do you get those on the HE dashboard - or just when using sharp tools or other dashboard?

  • if i can push from HE to the Rachio controller...anything i need to be aware of so i don't pooch my schedules or any other data ive input into the controller?

But if nothing else...taking the time to map put all the zones and where the sprinkler heads are was worth the time, Hard to see on this pic but each zone is labeled ( small square blocks), where they are in the yard, and the color code tells me if its a pop up or rotating head......But useless unless you're looking at it on excel and zoom in!

Anyway - completely green here on this application / integration
Cheers

I installed via Hubitat Package Manager but, although I received a message that the install was completed, I don't see the Rachio Community app in the list of Hubitat apps.
Using view Apps and Drivers in HPM, I see the following:

  • Rachio Community Package
    • Rachio Community v2.1.7 (app)
    • Rachio Controller v2.1.7 (driver)
    • Rachio Zone v2.1.7 (driver)
  • What am I missing?

Add virtual device, then change driver? Now click Add user apps, pick rachio integrartion

'got it - thanks!

And thanks for the quick reply.

After update Hubitat to 2.3.2.128 Rachio is offline.
Phone app play with Rachio as before.
I think when I power cycled the Rachio it got a different IP address though.
And for some reason the weather app part on HE dashboard is updating.
Devices also says Rachio controller offline?

I’ve updated as well and can’t reproduce. Might be able to help if you can provide a debug log.

Thanks that's actually good news.
It seems to me Hub cannot see the Rachio IP address?
I will have to see how to do the debug log, its been awhile. thanks

It’s a cloud integration so it doesn’t matter about your local IP address. Perhaps try re-setting up the Rachio from the Rachio community app (open app and click done again)

could not figure out how to export log. does this help?
