I will gladly donate to the iOS app development. My wife refuses to use Android, and I refuse to use iOS. Thank you sir for offering these options!
I've just started using this and hoped to move from Sharptools to:
- get rid of a subscription
- (Main reason) remove the reliance on the internet.
I've setup a dashboard, and one thing I am struggling with is the speed of updates. I think it is limited to Hue groups (hub built in Hue capability) - I have set up a tile for each Hue Group (Room) exactly as I have in Sharptools, but when the lights come on and off the tile does not update in a timely manner at all (if at all) - what am I doing wrong? It works within a few seconds on Sharptools, so I hoped it would be the same (if not quicker) on a local implementeation.
Contact sensors appear to be instant, not had chance to check much else - light status was my main use-case .
Thanks.
Welcome to the HD+ party!! I have struggled with tile responsiveness for quite some time. Many, many things affect the tile response times. And I have been down MANY rabbit holes chasing those problems. Things that I have discovered that result in tile update delays :
1 : device latency - most are rapid, some, not so much
2 : HE mesh integrity - a constant battle to keep that mesh solid and speedy
3 : app latency/design - some apps just have inherent latency and/or are poorly designed/programmed
4 : Ghost nodes
5 : Network congestion - such as spamming devices/services/programming
6 : hardware limitations - older or fringe devices
These are just a few, Others may have additional input. The beauty of Hubitat is that we have a large, diverse user population that is very willing to help.
Is your device on the same network as the Hub? If so, it should be instant as HD+ uses the Hub Websocket to receive instant updates.
Even if it IS on the same network, just double check this setting: menu -> Hubitat Hub -> Cloud Mode. It should say either "Auto - Local" or "Off (local only)"
If you're on another network then the Hub the app has to refresh every X seconds (5 by default I think) - although you can change that too.
Something I noticed recently while traveling in Mexico.
I am from Canada, and HD+ usually works everywhere I go within Canada and the US.
When I was in Mexico, it would not allow me to access the remote capablity of HD+, and thus I could not control items. This was on WiFi and mobile data.
Any ideas of settings I could look at?
I am on 1.0.2794. I no longer see the option to backup to hub. I see Save to other (Share Via). Don't see it in there. Was it moved or dropped? Thanks
It shows up when you're in 'local' mode since that's the only way I can access the Hub's file manager. You can check the mode in menu -> hubitat hub -> cloud mode. If it says "Auto (cloud)" then you're in cloud mode and the app is using the cloud endpoints to connect
You could look at the logs (menu -> about -> view logs) for any errors. I don't know why it wouldn't work anywhere cloud.hubitat.com can be reached
I f I have cloud mode to auto (where its always been), your right it doesn't show. Maybe I am not understanding. If on Auto and I am on my wifi, why doesn't it display Save to Hub option? And if I turn Auto off, will it auto connect to cloud when I the leave house like it currently does? I can tell from seeing the date of my last hub hd+backup file was in Feb. So I think last update changed it for me. I will work around it. thanks
I must admit I am confused. I just looked at the logs and there are cloud connections all day when I have been home using WIFI. Is it because I use presence? To me this doesn't make sense, something must have changed. Again, it seemed before Auto meant local when WIFI and cloud when WIFI not present.
Hi guys!
I don't know if it's a bug or a localized problem with my app, but when I try to change an icon neither The Noum Project nor Icon Finder are avaliable.
Some tip?
I can confirm this.
I still need clarification. Does cloud AUTO mean using local links when on WIFI (hub SSID) and cloud links when hub's WIFI not present? I may be misunderstanding response. Are you implying cloud Auto means cloud only? Essentially cloud mode On (cloud only).
I believe its a version bug. I am sitting in my house on AUTO and logs show its using cloud links. Is there something I should check on my end?
Thanks
This page hopefully will help explain: Cloud Mode | HD+ (Hubitat Dashboard)
I have an API key for both of these services.. it's possible the keys expired or too many requests were made and they have a limit.
I just tried and both are working for me though. So maybe whatever limit was hit was reset?
@jpage4500, firstly, thank you for your continuous efforts to provide us a decent dashboard.
I just tested it, and the situation remains the same, no icons...
Same here, no icons
I have been using Fire Tablets for my HD+ dashboards, and have spent the last 2 months troubleshooting application crashes, and I am finally reaching out for help.
It appears that the application closes partially, when it “wakes up” on motion (tablet), or “wake up on device activity” (hard wired motion and contacts through Konnected). The application appears to be running, as if it was minimized, and am on the home screen, I can push the square icon and display HD+. It seems to consistently crash/minimize in a few days. If I choose “Stay Awake” and no screen savers, no issues, and it remains running.
I have tried every combination and permutation and I can’t solve it.
Here is some further information, and thinks I have done to try and isolate the issue.
- · Fire HD 10 (9th gen)
- · Occurs on both tablets, but not at the same time.
- · Have tried multiple power sources and direct to a plug, and power remains at 100
- · Using 5 RTSP camera windows
- · On current HD+ version and have rolled back to a few different ones, still occurs.
- · Only have needed devices in Maker API
- · I have amazing wifi (~700mbps) with Omada, and located beside an AP.
Logs…
I do see logs for all the 5 cameras “stopView RTSP…..” and then “reconnect not reconnecting” as the last log, when I go in after a crash. The odd thing is when not using screen saver and using “always on”, I see these logs, but have no crashing.
So my options are to leave the screen “ON” all the time, or the rest of the house can’t easily use the display, so I would appreciate any help, as I love using HD+.
That was a fun read. Real world it means I can be sitting in my house and it is using cloud links on Auto. I enjoyed the app. But I have migrated to something else. Wish you much success with the IOS and Windows versions. take care.
