[RELEASE] HD+ - Android Dashboard

I think I see the problem.. nothing new AFAIK but any contact sensor with "door" in the name will default to a door type. it also checks "window" and "garage" but if you have a device called "Garage door" it'll check "door" first. Probably should check garage first

It should be fixed in the latest version

That sounds a little different.. devices are grayed out when you open the app and it's trying to connect to the Hub -- assuming the devices hadn't been updated in a while.

@jpage4500 ran into another issue.

I have a device of type "Custom" that has many attributes. It is an older Monoprice outlet switch.

I select 3 of them and all 3 show up on the preview, but the actual tile only shows 2.

As previous reported, the text-size setting is being ignored.

Thanks!

It's moot now but here is what I saw

Since the second-to-last update, folders are displayed differently when "Show Content" is set to "tiled" and the tile width is set to 2x1. Previously, three, maybe four, icons from the folder were displayed; now it's only two. These two are also extremely large and bulky. So far, I haven't found a way to restore the old behavior. The image was identical to the 1x1 size, but just 2x1.

Any ideas?

Thanks

There is a new setting for the folder. When "Show Contents" is set to "Tiled", there is a "Max Items to Display" option just below it. Try setting that to 3...

I'm working on some more folder improvements.. I'll have a new version out today

I just pushed a fix for this. Now that a folder can display up to 16 items I needed to do some calculations to best optimize it when only a few items need to be displayed in a larger tile.

I also am showing that 'max items' setting now even when the 'stacked' option is set. This will let you just show the shades if you want (image below)

As previous reported, the text-size setting is being ignored.

I haven't changed this one yet. It's a little complicated because the idea behind setting the text size is to make the font size the same on all tiles. But, with folders and multi-value tiles there's a lot less space since depending on how many items are displayed.

@jpage4500, this is a great update! I really like that the tile can now display more than 2-lines of text.

Below is the before and after. The tiles with the red dot are the ones that were improved dramatically by your changes.

Since there is now more space, I have tweaked the content of the "Solar" tile. This is why some of the text is different.

I also noticed that you skip tiles inside the folder that are of type "HTML". Previous it used to display the "HTML" icon. This is also a great change!

Marc

@jpage4500 I have been trying out different ways to represent my solar production at the folder level and have uncovered some interesting discrepancies. Let's start with some annotated screenshots.

The left-hand image is what you see when you open the folder named "Solar" that is shown in the right-hand image.

The yellow annotations explain the discrepancies I am observing. The one that is most important to me is this:

  • The folder contains two 1-wide text tiles. When that folder is opened, they display nicely wrapped text.
  • The folder on the main screen is configured as "Tiled, max 2", 2-wide. It is wrapping the text of those 2 tiles very differently.
  • It is worth observing that the 2-wide folder is displaying the text the same way it is displayed by the 2-wide text tile that is inside the folder. My expectation (home) was that they would behave like the 2 separate 1x1 text tiled.

This happens ever if I remove the 2x1, 3x1 and 4x1 text tiles.

The last text tile displays a different text attribute that attempts to convey the same information in a different way.

It would also help if I could insert line-breaks into the text attribute.

Let me know your thoughts.

Thank you,

Marc

I've noticed some issues with the latest version.

I'm not sure about the exact version that they were introduced, as I didn't install all recent versions.

Items displayed side-by-side instead of on top of each other

Before and after:

Hub Information Tile

It used to display the sunrise/sunset times with a pale sun/moon on the background. This was certainly not introduced on the most recent versions, as it occurs on 1.0.2781. I don't have picture of how it was before, but currently it only displays the icons, in foreground mode, like the following images:
V 1.0.2781:

V 1.0.2791:

Of course, one could select custom attributes, but it won't show the pale sun/moon on the background.

Valve doesn't allow custom icon color

This one most likely isn't related to the latest changes, as I have only tried to do this for the first time now.
I'd like to change the icon color for when the valve is open, but the option is not there.

Could this option be added?

Could be this is obvious but is the reason I do not see a "Check for updates" option in About is that I am running the beta version?
I am running 1.0.2791 - I must have auto update turned on in Play since I have not manually updated...

If you install the app manually it'll have the check for updates option. I remove it for the Google Play version which doesn't allow it. But, if you have Google Play logged in on the device it'll automatically update apps regardless of where you get it.. not cool Google!

You have to go into the Play app, find HD+ and un-check the option to auto-update. Even then it'll try to trick you into letting it update the app with notifications later too.. something like "you have 13 apps waiting to be updated. click here..."

yeah, that was 1 thing I had to address when I merged the folder and mult-value tile logic which was 95% the same.. I had to pick one to be consistent.

I'll see if I can figure out how that worked and try to fix. Are you able to send the logs? That would help

Valve doesn't allow custom icon color
but the option is not there

Can you try the "Text Color" option? I use the same setting for either the main text color or the icon color -- I thought I changed the label from "Text" to "Icon" but must have broke that at least for valves. I'll try it out too to make sure the color changes.

Twice in the last few weeks, my custom sort order of all the tiles in HD+ has been reset to something else. I'm using a Pixel 9 running HD+ 1.0.2791 and Android 16. This hasn't happened on our tablet running Android 12 nor on my wife's Samsung phone. Has anyone else experienced this issue? TIA!

I must have used play to install the beta version. I just did a manual install and now see the Check for updates.
I also unchecked auto update of apps.
Thanks

Is it possible to provide an option to maintain the previous vertical layout style for device tiles?

With your latest version everything except 1x1 tiles with 2 values are looking great. I have a number of 1x1 tiles with 2 values that are best in 2 rows. They are all single row tiles.
I just noticed that changing the Text Size in any tile size variation doesn't work. This may be effecting the 1x1 2 value tiles.

SOLVED: I ended up comparing two devices and I saw that the Device Type was set to Custom. I changed it to HTML and all was restored.

Two updates ago the Open Weather tile on one of my tablets changed from actually showing graphics and data to only showing me the html css text. All of my other tablets are still showing this data correctly, and the Open Weather device shows my 3 day forecast correctly too. I haven't been able to figure out how to correct this display. Is there an easy method? I think the issue is related to this one tablet since the others are OK still.

Currently running 1.0.2791 and the Open Weather device reads:

style type="text/css">.cl{height:45}.clb(height:80%}<table style

..... and so on. There is a leading <, but I removed it so the code would appear in this post.

Great! thanks for posting! I was going to ask if you can send logs and I'll take a look -- generally speaking that's the best way for me to debug things.

This is where things get complicated.. I really like the side by side look for icons

I can see how some would think that a vertical layout looks better though for text
image

I'd like to avoid adding another setting though.. there's already more settings than I'd like for a folder view. If everyone agrees that 2 text tiles on a 1x1 tile look better vertical that's an edge case I can try to implement.. it gets harder though if we're talking about larger tiles
