Recommended Zigbee / Z-Wave devices?

Hello! Since I've moved to C-8, I've found out that Xiaomi zigbee is not implemented correctly and to be honest it mostly worked badly on C-7 as well (involuntary unpairing was especially annoying)

So now I'm on a quest to find similar devices.

What I need are:
thermometers/hygrometers, buttons, motion sensors, light sensor

Can anyone recommend (ideally with buy links  ) a range of zigbee / z-wave devices that have HE support and are similarly small (discreet) as xiaomi devices?
I don't need display, as thermometers are often hidden somewhere I don't go often.
Ideally some that are reliable and have a good battery life.

Many many thanks!

I am using HE for several months now. And so far all the sensors (motion, temp etc) from Sonoff works without any problem. At the moment I am thinking about getting their relays, but read mixed experiences about a combination with Hue

I love the Hue motion sensors. I have a bunch. They do motion, temperature and lux. Reliable, long lasting AA batteries. I've had one in my freezer for more than a year on the same batteries.

Over a year old but some good information.....

I have lots of Xiaomi door and window sensors. I found that to keep them happy, I just had to add a few SONOFF S40LITE plug-in outlets as repeaters.

They never drop off any more.

The "Year In Review" threads linked to above are good, even if they're almost two years old at this point. (The sensor market hasn't exactly changed overnight, from what I can see...)

One thing that might be good to know: are you in the United States? Probably most people here are, and you're likely to see ideas that are most easily available in that market. However, availability differs worldwide. And for Z-Wave, there is the added concern of different frequencies in different regions.

For Zigbee sensors, my go-to nowadays would probably be CentraLite or the SmartThings sensors (now distributed by Aeotec, who is otherwise mostly know for Z-Wave). The former is likely to be cheaper. Both are likely larger than most Xiaomi devices; I'm not sure there's anything quite like most of theirs, but some Sonoff sensors are closer in size (small--but nowhere near as pretty). Zooz also has a coupe "XS" ("extra small," I assume) devices if you don't mind Z-Wave, though I doubt battery life will be as good.

Hi All,

Thanks for everyone's input, I'm from europe, so the market obviously is a bit different and I can't use the S40 Lite repeaters, but Sonoff has an EU version. Based on all I've read I've decided to give a chance to SonOff zigbee devices and repeaters together as those Xiaomi while great and small have caused many issues over the years.

I'll report back with sonoffs  Thank you all again!
