I searched through topics and found people using either Smartthings multi purpose sensor or ecolink tilt garage sensors. I've used the Smartthings multi purpose sensor for few months but now it's stopped functioning and would like to know what other garage tilt sensors you all use and recommend at a reasonable price
I have had good luck with a Monoprice door tilt sensor. I believe that unit is a rebranded Vision sensor. Battery life is excellent and it has been very reliable. It is a Z Wave sensor.
Unfortunately, a quick look online seems to indicate that this sensor is not available at Monoprice (at least for now), and the Vision branded units are "Currently Unavailable" on Amazon.
Good luck with you search.
Much appreciated, I'll keep my eye out for one.
Seconded on the Monoprice. If you can find one that is.

I have 2 of the ecolink tilt sensors (TLT-ZWAVE2.5) on each garage door and they have worked great for 10 months now. Battery still at 99.
What has caused it to stop ?
TylerTech on YouTube had a pretty ingenious way to detect if the garage door was open or not using a SmartThings multi-sensor. Instead of using the tilt function he added a hinge to his door and placed the magnetic piece to it. So when the door opens the hinge folds causing it to read as open and when the door closes the hinge falls back into place. I am using it on my door and it's rock solid. The video is below, you have to fast forward to the end to see it in action. Then you wouldn't need a new sensor just use it differently.
Third, have one of the Monoprice and the battery seems to last forever. Works 100%

My Ecolink has a soft spot in my heart. A long time ago, I started with Wink; the Ecolink was one of my first devices and Wink refused to pair with it. I finally concluded that Wink was too closed for me and switched to ST, largely based on my experience with the Ecolink. Now on Hubitat, the Ecolink has been rock solid - one of my absolute best battery-powered devices in staying online - and I, maybe, changed the battery once in almost four years.
I WISH I KNEW why the Smarthings multisensor stopped working! I pull it up in devices, it shows active and inactive, but closed and open doesn't work. I even put the magnet next to it and still no response from open close. I even paired it again and no luck . I checked device entries and it seemed the last time open / closed worked was end of May. The new Alexa skill that allows Alexa to speak if the open /closed sensor is operational was how I realized it was not working properly. My garage door announced open but not my wifes.
Just to let everyone know , I took the majorities recommendation and bought and received the ecolink garage sensor from Amazon. Linked up in a blink of an eye and works PERFECTLY PLUS, took minutes to install. Thanks to all!
I've read excellent reviews from owners of the ecolink tilt sensor and decided to go with that one. Thanks to all for their input
