I currently have a Dakota Alert driveway sensor that supports dry contact outputs for relays etc.. I've been using a Aqara moisture sensor, since it has screw terminal contacts, connected to the dry NO contact on the driveway sensor, however it's hit or miss. Not sure if it's the zigbee, or just the sensor, but I'm looking to find a small zwave contact sensor with screws so I can connect to the Dakota Alert sensor. Any recommendations?
How small? I use the Ecolink sensor to tell whether my transfer switch is in "mains" or "standby" and that's a door contact sensor with a couple of screw terminals. It's not all that small though...
Personally, I’d be finding out which of the above is causing it to be “hit or miss” before introducing another possible issue - zwave.
Turn on logging open a log tab and start shorting the moisture sensor and check that every short is registering. If not try the same test with the moisture sensor 10m closer to the hub until it’s detecting.
Note: wet weather may negatively impact the signal distances so you may have to factor that in.
The driveway base station, where the sensor is connected to the NO contacts, is about 12 feet from the hub. I have a significant zwave network, but only a few zigbee devices, so I'm leaning toward using a zwave device instead of zigbee. Manually tripping the wires works 4 out of 5 times, the device shows no event, and the zwave and zigbee networks appear healthy...
The zooz zen 17 has a the ability to do this as well. It can use no or NC sensors.
If i remember right the Aeotec door/windo sensor 7 pro also has scre contacts. That is part of what changed with the pro version though.
If you just need it to report to HE i would start with the zen multirelay 17 instead of the Aeotec sensor because of cost.
