Reactivating C-7 to takeover all Zigbee from C-8 Pro - But How?

I could use some help thinking about how to go about bringing my shuttered C-7 back online to remove all Zigbee devices from my C-8 Pro. As I never had an issue with Zigbee using the C-7, I expect that reverting all Zigbee communications to the C-7 will drastically improve my Zigbee problems that I have been unable to resolve with my C-8 Pro.

I've never used the Hub Mesh so I'm not sure how to go about this process. Though I did take note of this guidance about using an old hub for Zigbee and the necessity of changing the Zigbee channel. What do I do with my old hub?

So I have a feeling I do the Full Reset on the C-7 and change the Zigbee channel as instructed. I also imagine I will have to remove all the zigbee devices from their current home on the C-8 Pro and pair them freshly to the C-7.

With Hub Mesh am I able to keep all of my Rule Machine apps and other Hubitat and 3rd party apps running on the C-8 Pro but controlling the Zigbee devices on the C-7? If so, how do I configure that? If that isn't possible, can someone set me straight on how much of my automation will have to be created again from whole cloth?

I'm sure I'm missing various wrinkles but also maybe some areas for recycling rules somehow?

I appreciate in advance any assistance that is shared.

Happy Turkey Day Eve!!!

More details please.

The migration instructions for your C-7 suggests taking a Cloud Backup and then powering it down.

IF that is what you did, then simply powering it up would cause it to collide with the C-8. Therefore, I'd suggest shutting the Zigbee Radio on the C-8 (Settings: Zigbee Details: Disable)

Power on the C-7 and it should just leap back into it's previous activity, controlling Zigbee,

You haven't mentioned ZWave, but you'll have to do the same for that radio.. disable the one you aren't using.

HOWEVER, all of the above assumes almost no change between the last day the C-7 was working and today... any/all of the changes made to the C-8 will of course, not be known to the C-7's old config.

I did not recognize the problems I eventually developed with Zigbee on the C-8 Pro immediately. It took months because I kept looking on here for anyone else that was having problems and I wasn't seeing anything. So I figured I was just having devices tearing through batteries cause I couldn't figure out why my Zigbee devices just kept falling off my network.

Long story short it has been a very long time since I upgraded from the C-7.

I have all kinds of ZWave devices with the 800 hardware that are running great on the C-8 Pro so I intend to keep ZWave alive and well on the C-8 Pro. I just need to get the Zigbee devices back to the C-7 where they used to work flawlessly.

I was specifically referring to the last part of that guidance about what to do with your old hub as that matches the state my C-7 has been in for months. Powered down and in a drawer with everything migrated to the C-8 Pro for all those months.

You can always try a two step approach as well... and is probably what I'd do if I needed.

Disable the Zigbee radio on the C-8 Pro, then Turn Off the C-8 Pro and turn on the C-7, find out what's working. If the C-7 is as untouched as you say, it should all just work as it did that last day. If that's true, you might even do a platform update to get to a better match with the C-8.

If all that is encouraging, then power on the C-8 Pro again and they should co-exist.

After that, you can get Hub Mesh working. Start by enabling Hub Mesh on each hub.. a reboot is required.
