These are the ecconet web...works fine on high def. Tablet
These are my phone
Thanks.
So the Ecowitt tablet is more of a user friendly "gloss over" display while the web is detailed graphs and numerical data.
Good to know.
I notice too that the Wittboy is not very good on light rain.
Wondering about going the old school sensor route.
I know a guy who lives near me that has the newer, “fancier”, no moving parts version (the Wittboy, I believe). I have the old school rain bucket and spinning anemometer (supplying info to my little GW series “hub”). I have my system, his system, and others in our area included in my PWS Monitor app, which I check almost every morning, soon after I wake up. Personally, I’ve noticed more “Well, that looks wonky” readings from his system than from mine, or from another “old school” friend’s system. I’ve heard that the opposite is allegedly true, but that hasn’t been my experience. Anyway, my two cents…
So the rain portion is the Wonky part or just all the reading in general?
We live in a fairly windy area, especially in the winter, and I also heard the solid-state anemometer is not accurate at higher wind speeds.
Good to know you can compare the models.
i have ws90 ,.,. the rain works fine.. just wont register a light drizzle ie less the .1 inch or so.. any real rain it registers..
I don't know about that, but I'm pretty sure you have to apply electricity to it for heat if the temp gets below freezing, to maintain accuracy.
Thankfully we're mostly rain all year when it gets stormy.
I think I'll get this if I can find it in stock locally and not the Ecowitt store.
The shipping and customs to Canada is too much to swallow.
I guess everyone in Amazon.ca got one for X-mas.
There's AliExpress but who wants a warranty anyway?
WN1981 Weather Station
I think his wind speed sometimes looks off. Could it be placement? Maybe. Looks like you've made up your mind on something in a later post. Whatever you decide, good luck. I think it's hard to beat Ecowitt for value.
I just got mine and have been struggling to find a tablet solution. The local gateway available on a browser (using the IP assigned in your router) is pretty mundane:
So, I resigned myself to displaying a cloud version on the tablet. The Ecowitt.net (posted previously) page looks a little too busy for what I wanted (for a screensaver on Fully Kiosk)
I decided to upload to wunderground, and use the station ID in my DAKBOARD for my tablets and just use the phone apps for when I want to check in
I have used a nice cross-section of our discussions over recent times and mostly have Tasker switch the dispkay on my tablet between the standard EcoWitt Dashboard (using Fully Kiosk) and a digital clock app (not shown below).
I have not implemented the proper logic yet to do things like switch between the two at certain times of the morning or evening, or use modes, but that will come in time.
I have also toyed with Dakboard in the past, so I may look at it again at some point.
Tasker is a great app. I had not thought of using it on my tablets for changing the display.
Haven't done it yet, but a thought occurred to me, that if this was to be used during a power outage situation...for whatever reason, the Ecowitt console/gateway would need to be on battery. For those using the pure gateway, vs console, it'd likely be easier. Could be located close to the battery backup. For me, let's say, using the console, a separate battery near the console could be problematic.
Then also, without backup, you're not recording all the cool weather things that could be happening during the outage. The big console has an SD card slot, not sure about the gateway version, assuming internet is down as well.
That's a good point @velvetfoot , I'd never thought of that. What kind of power connector does the console use?
Last I looked, which was a while ago, Ecowitt actually recommended a TalentCell battery backup for the big console.
It's a micro USB.
Here a 'spare' TalentCell is running it.
I stored it with 4 lights, so it's probably best I run it down anyway.
I am clueless, still, on best practices for batteries, even though I also have a couple Bluettis.
Version 1.34.15 released
Minor fix for new raining attribute
(Thanks to @kahn-hubitat for spotting this)
Just (re)installed.
Working fine.
Have two additional temps now.
Not sure about adding more-I just usually peruse a console as I pass by.
The sensor in the fridge will notify if high via a rule.
As an aside, one can get emailed warnings via the Ecowitt app.
Thanks for your App Work!
I have an observation:
When I sort by battery strength, the Ecowitt devices are ignored.
They're in the list, but farther down, un-sorted.
