Re-pairing Schlage

How do I re-pair my Schlage with my C-3 hub???

Could you please elaborate what you mean by that? I am not sure that we have enough information to go off of.

  • Are you having trouble pairing, the hub tries but can't complete the pairing process?
  • You don't know how to put the lock into pairing mode?
  • You can't find the place in the hub to add a device?
  • Other?
  • We don't even know if this a Zigbee or Z-wave lock.

It was paired before.

The Schlage lock became inoperative and I contacted Schlage and the lock was reset to the factory defaults - and all my previously set codes are gone, but still in the Hub app.

The representative said for me to do a re-pairing and it should have all the codes again.

I’m answering the questions you posed as follows:

  • Are you having trouble pairing, the hub tries but can't complete the pairing process?

I don’t know how to do this.

  • You don't know how to put the lock into pairing mode?

This is what I want to do.

  • You can't find the place in the hub to add a device?

The device is already in the hub

  • Other?

Not that I know of

  • We don't even know if this a Zigbee or Z-wave lock

It is Z-wave

I hope this is what you wanted from me and I look forward to the resolution of this matter.

Thank you!!!

I don't think this is correct after a factory reset. You wipe everything on the lock, and unpair the device when you do so. You will have to add the codes back on the lock or via the hub once you have the lock working on the Hubitat.

Did you follow the instructions for your lock? I assume(?) this is a BE469 lock? You put the Hubitat into Z-wave inclusion mode, then do the following. You probably will need to have the lock and the hub quite close, the older Schlage use a "whisper mode" when doing an inclusion for security reasons, and you have to be quite close to make the hub and lock talk to each other.

lock

Because this is not a C7 or C8, I don't think there is a direct or easy method to include this device again, and keep the previous lock automations and dashboard controls. In other words, in the newest versions of the hub, you can do a Z-wave replace where you are substituting a new device 1:1 for the old one.

Because this is an older hub, you will have to do the whole Z-wave inclusion process again. That will cause you to have two of the exact same device, the older non-working one, and the newly included one. This is not ideal, and will have to be rectified.

I don't remember if the Swap Device app will swap a lock, but I think that is the only way you can easily trade the previous paired device and trade it for the newly paired one.

There are ways with a Z-stick and 3rd party software to do this swap at the chipset level, but not within these older C3-C5 hubs. That process is not something I would advise you to do if you are struggling with a basic Z-wave inclusion.

I tried adding a new lock code and it didn’t work.

It seems I do have to do a re-pairing and this is what assistance I am seeking.

How do I do it???

Thank you…

For what it is worth, should I get a newer hub and do away with this c-3 hub which seems to be cumbersome and a pain to work with???

There's a reason these locks were removed from the compatability lists. In my setup, my most stable hub is my C4, between C5, C7, C8. My BE469P still misbehaves. Don't get me wrong, getting a new hub is loads of fun, but these locks are a pain point. Other people seem to like their zigbee locks

How to add a device to the hub:

Instructions for your lock on how to put it into inclusion mode were provided above.
