Hi! In my Hubitat interface I'm seeing a weird warning message which I don't understand. Clicking into it for "more info" simply shows me some sort of log....
Does anyone know what this is about? Thanks!

Well that’s the largest DB I’ve seen so far.... It’s a relatively new warning that pops up when the states and events that you are storing exceed some theoretical optimum maximum - believe this may be around 50M. My guess is that the warning is because #1 there is a maximum storage capacity on your device and you are getting close to filling it, and #2 the larger the DB the more time the hub needs to spend in managing it.
OK.... That's weird.... I'm a new user, and so far all I've set up are a few zigbee outlets, one zwave outlet, three sensors, and my hue Integration. That's it....
The default event and state history IMHO is set a little high (100 and 30 IIRC) unless you’re trying to track down an issue. When I add a new device, I generally let it run a while to make sure there are no issues, and then lower the settings to 10 and 10 (many go with 10 and 5).
If you click on the alerts button below the message, you will have the option to lower the saved settings. Per above you should do that, to perhaps 15 and 15. It may take a couple hours, but it should come down some.
If it is still > 100, after that, you may want to contact support.
OK, thanks everyone! So, that just means that, per device, 10 events are saved, rather than 100s?
yes
Yup. I save 5 and 5. With ~100 devices, and ~150 devices, my database remains under 10 mb.
As far as I understand this message, it suggests to adjust the log filters to something like that and check out, which device may cause the issue:
Did you try that already?
Thanks, I'll try that out!
And please post the results after sorting in descending order, I'm curious.
Just discovered this new feature just an hour ago.
Make sure to adjust the Power/Energy reporting on the outlets to keep them from spamming the hub continuously with status reports. Not only will this help to reduce the database size, but both your Zigbee and Z-Wave mesh networks will appreciate the relief as well.
I shall do! I'll only be back there in the a few days' time, though!
OK.... I'll look at that as well...! Presumably they only need to report their status when the state changes? Where do I adjust this?
No, I think what @ogiewon meant is that you should set the change threshold high enough where small changes are not reported as events.
For example, I have an outlet monitoring my dryer. I have the minimal change set at 10W for that outlet. As opposed to 5W or 1W.
If your outlets support power/energy reporting, then you should be able to adjust those settings in each device's detailed settings page as shown below. This is an example of a 'Generic Zigbee Outlet' driver type, which is what is used for my Iris 3210-L Zigbee outlets. I have disabled power reporting as shown below, as I do not need this information whatsoever. If you require this data, then you should be able to select reasonable thresholds to prevent the outlet from spamming the hub with too much data.
Ah, ok, that makes sense!
Thanks @ogiewon that is incredibly helpful!!
What's odd about that is I did that and if I'm reading it correctly I have devices that are showing MORE Events and States than they are set to keep...does that make sense?
The events for those top 3 are set at 100....so does the red mean that something is wrong?
