I have a switch that puts my awning in/out. i turn it on the awning closes. turn off it opens. I created a custom action "Close Awning" which is just on: awning. I can not figure out how to call the custom action from a rule. can ya educate me please!?

Do you mean Custom Command? If so, look for the action called Run Custom Command.
