I'm a noob to HE so I need some guidance on the Rule Machine... basically I want to turn On a light at a specific time but then turn it Off at Sunrise. The easy part is setting the trigger to be a specific time, then I add the Action of turning off the light. I am having some difficulty determining if I can then add another criteria to this rule to turn the light Off at Sunrise OR do I need to create another rule to turn Off the light?
Have you installed/looked at Simple Automation Rules? It will make this easier, but yes you could do it in RM with one rule, but 2 rules is easier and just as good (SAR is best)
I know there are some solutions here and some might be better than the RM rule. But for the sake of answering the question: In RM to do this in one rule you would want to do the following:
Trigger: When Time is 9:00PM
Action:
Turn On Light
Wait for event Sunrise
Turn Light Off
There are some differences between wait for event and wait for condition. An Event is just that, A single event. It is more efficient than Wait for condition, However Conditions can compare multiple things (Turn on the ligth when Both doors are open)
Let me know if you need any further help
Appreciate the responses... agree that Simple Auto Rule would be best but mostly am using this example as a way to learn RM for my more complex ones.
