All, any suggestions how to create a single button on my custom dashboard to dim all my blinds in one of my rooms, they are various size so I need to put in different setting to dim them all….they are zebra style roller blinds
Create an instance of Room Lighting, specifying your desired position for each blind in the table. Create an activator device (an option in the app), then when you turn on that activator device, your blinds will be set to the positions specified in your activation table.
This is a fairly powerful app, and there is a lot more you can do with it, but those are the only two things you really need to do.
(If all of your blinds pretend to also work like dimmers and you want a simple option, a scene from Groups and Scenes would also work -- capture them like dimmers. A group almost would except for the fact that you seem to want different settings for each.)
My apologies but I am still learning what app are you referencing so I can search for it?
He did specifically say Room Lighting, which you just need to select from the built-in app list, no searching needed.
The Documentation link is available both in the upper right corner of the community here and in the Hub UI left nav - it is a very useful reference.
Hi, thanks, the room lighting program was very helpful, but there seems to be an issue and I can’t seem to resolve it.
-
I set up one of my blind with a level setting for dimming.
-
I created a virtual switch to activate the dimming function set up with a 5s auto off so if I use Alexa voice to open completely I can dim them remotely thru the dashboard
-
The issue is that it works only once…..if I close the blind or open the blind and hit the virtual switch again…..nothing is happening.
Any idea how to fix this issue?
Probably something to do with Room Lighting already thinking it's "active" and your settings not doing anything that case, but enabling all logging for RL will tell you for sure.
But I'm not sure why you created a virtual switch. What's wrong with the activator device I suggested using?
Here's a picture of a similar room lighting automation that I set up to set my blinds to a specific position during the day.
Per @bertabcd1234 's comment, create an Activator Device by typing the name you want to use in the "Command with Activator Device" field at the bottom of the screen. Then use that virtual "Activator" device created by RL rather than a virtual switch. I usually name my activator device and the RL automation w/the same (or very similar) names.
