I have purchased and installed compatible contact sensors for my doors. I would like to have the system tell me when a door is open but cannot figure our how to program it to do this. Also, can an Alexa be used for the system speaker for the chime/alarm functions? Looks like should be possible, but don't see where to configure.
Also, I have presence sensors working to open garage door when one of us comes home (Life360), but can't figure out how to set up to close garage doors when both of us leave. Would also like to have alarm activate when we both leave, and deactivate when one of us arrive.
Alexa can be used to speak but requires the community Echo Speaks integration. Google Home devices can be integrated as speakers with the built in Google Cast app, Sonos work well for TTS speakers, and there are other possibilities as well.
Be careful with having doors open/unlock with presence as sometimes presence sensors will act up and suddenly show as away then return so your door may open in the middle of the night if not restricted.
You can use mode manager or RM to control modes based on presence then set your HSM based on the modes.
Thanks, but I was hoping to get the system to send an audible noise every time a door opens. This is a basic function of a typical security system that I am trying to replace with Hubitat. If I need to buy some kind of speaker, that is fine, but was hoping that I could just use my Alexa.
Thanks, but I was able to create a rule that opens the door when one of us arrives, but I would like to close the doors only when both of us are gone. Is that possible?
