Presence Based On Roku Camera?

I have a few Roku cameras, which are cloud based.

Roku also has some devices, like a smart plug, and provides presence sensing.

I was thinking: get a Roku plug, maybe plug in a ZEN04 (or something) and get the presence info into Hubitat.

It's my impression that most presence solutions on the forum depend on the cloud, so this could be comparable.

(Note: I have no current need for presence, although I must say, the tilt-sensor-on-a-string in the garage is doing well in vehicle presence duty.)

Opinions?

edit: "Thinking" more, sensing 'off' on a ZEN04 more difficult on loss of power to device. Alternative required.
edit2: Perhaps a ZEN16 with it's power supply plugged into the WiFi plug and an Ecolink contact sensor hooked up to the ZEN17.
edit3: Perhaps just a simple relay (RIB).
edit4: Perhaps plug in my Ecolink Chime Siren with the backup battery into the WiFi plug. When on battery, away.

I’m not quite following.

How does a Roku plug work as a presence sensor?

I did not say the plug is a presence sensor.
I am exploring a Roku plug as a means to relay presence to Hubitat.

I see, you meant you would use your phone as a presence sensor and the Roku app to trigger an automation.

Have you tried the Hubitat app for this purpose?

See note above.
Purely proof of concept.

No I have not tried the Hubitat app for this purpose.
It is cloud-based as well, correct.

I am not sure how the Roku app does presence.
After all, each camera has a motion sensor.

Yes the Hubitat app uses a geofence around a location to trigger arrival and departure automations. This requires the cloud because your phone is using gps and its cell network to determine it crossed the geofence and communicate with Hubitat’s servers.

From your screenshot above, it looks like the Roku app would do essentially the same thing.

It does. I poked around on the app and it does use location services.
Only 13 bucks. Maybe I'll find another use for them.
