Power Usage Washing Machine

Hi, I'm trying to create a rule whereby I'm alerted when my washing machine is finished. I have no problem creating the rule and there's loads of help on the forums. However I'm trying to monitor the power consumption throught it's cycle. How can I achieve this? I can't get my head around hubigraphs, does anyone have an easy solution to tracking the power usage? Cheers guys

Unless you need to receive repeated data, I would suggest NodeRed. NodeRed runs on a PC and can receive all you Hubitat data writing it to a text file. After which you could use excel or libracalc to analyze your data.

At first look NodeRed seems daunting but its really not that bad. There are plenty of posts showing different sketches.

I found this the absolute easiest method to collect data from Hubitat. Now that I've said that there may be a Hubitat app that is easier but I'm not aware of such a thing.

Are you trying to do this long-term, or do you just want to see what a typical wash cycle looks like with your power-monitoring device? If the latter, the "Events" tab on the device page will let you see history, and you can search/filter by "power" (or whatever you're looking for) to see more or less just that attribute. If you have "event history size" set to a particularly low value on the device page, you may need to increase that, at least temporarily, to get a full cycle here. Otherwise, this should give you an idea.

Or you can just create the rule and use reasonable guesses for power to start, then modify it if needed. To help improve your guesses, turning on logging for the rule would probably help you figure out where things went wrong if they do. (I might suggest turning them off after you've figured things out, since power-monitoring devices can be chatty and you probably don't want the extra logs if you don't care for them anymore.)

Thanks Robert, you're wisdom is awesome. Only looking towards short term information so yes, your events solution makes senseπŸ‘

I was told about the Better Laundry Monitor app which works great telling me when the wash is ready. I have a Zooz Zen15 on both the washer and dryer. Used to be I would just go downstairs to see if either were finished, but now that I am old with Arthur, going up and down the basement steps has become difficult.

This is my rule with Zen 15 you will.have to tweak.for your washer. Turn on reporting on the zen15 and watch. The reporting. Specifically the level.it goes up to when it starts and what it droos to at the refill.cycle then back.up to during spin..

Device settings

Make it even easier and install one of the laundry apps from HPM
