I am still on ST but looking at possibly jumping ship completely or at the very least run both in tandem/linked. I have read through several topics/posts and like what I see with the exception of a few people being pretty aggressive to others who mentioned pros of ST over Hubitat, these nearly made me turn away but I am hoping that they are isolated and I am NOT here to argue the virtues of either system.
BACK ON TOPIC
I have searched several times but not come across any mention of the Popp Keypad (700045) being supported;
In fact I have seen a few posts questioning why there is not a outdoor Z-Wave Keypad out there, well there is and it has been out for over a year now...
Is anyone usning one with Hubitat please? Experiences etc.?
The Keypad is pretty integral to my ST setup and used to unlock certain doors with different codes as well as start apps/routines, arm/disarm the system etc. so would like to know if it will be something I can easily move over the Hubitat. I say this as I do not really want to run my locks/keypads etc. cross platform.
This is the first that I've seen of this device (which looks quite nice btw), so we don't have a driver for it currently.
Porting drivers from ST to Hubitat isn't that difficult, however our door code schema is not the same as smartthings so integrating the door code management with Hubitat is likely beyond the scope of typical porting efforts performed by community members.
I really is a top device, weather sealed and has a very nice finish to it with good responsive buttons etc. Not the cheapest but well worth the money IMHO.
I use the widely mentioned RBoy apps and DH's so assume I cannot even think of porting the DH due to their T&C's.
Will keep an eye out on here but please let me know if you come across anything yourself.
I will have a think and most likely pick up a Hubitat Hub soon even though I am completely baffled as to the price differences for outside the US especially as we get hit with Import duty etc. This is one thing that has stopped me buying one as it seems we are just being ripped off as per usual lol
Yeah,,,,for 154 pounds?!?!? For a F*#%ING KEYPAD?!?!? That's almost $200. If you are willing to spend that kind of money for a keypad, i have some great stuff you should look at.....
It also says it's for "outside" but it's only IP44. That's not weatherproof.
Z-Wave things in the UK are expensive period so this is actually pretty good value IMHO. I have had them outside (completely exposed) for over a year now and not a single issue or water inside. Not sure why the IP rating is that low but it is completely sealed with a rubber seal and the buttons are completely sealed from the contacts etc.
Plastic indoor alternatives are around £80 or £90 here so you get what you pay for.
Yes I'm happy to pay that for it, I have 2, I can easily afford to and would happily pay that and more again to replace them and I'm sure anyone else who gets one or had one would also be more than happy. Not to mention there is NO alternative out there with this build quality or in the EU nothing without the build quality lol.
Never understand why people bash others spending especially without actually seeing what they pay for themselves. Am I a mug for buying a £160k Porsche because I can afford one, after all is only a car right lol.
But this is a keypad.....not a Porche. I don't care if you have the money to spend it or not....don't buy something just BECAUSE it is expensive. And if there is a perfectly good, cheaper alternative, then why spend more than you have to....but i digress...
I've never been more happy to be an American. Sounds like you guys are paying through the nose for smarthome stuff. Ouch. I knew prices were higher but I didn't know they were that high.
