Polling Frequency Device

I am trying to write a rule to increase the polling frequency of a temperature device (samsung button) that I use to control fan speed of a ceiling fan. When selecting the action to "poll device", there is no pull down for the device. It appears the issue was identified back in December through the forum as a "bug", however I'm not sure whether it has ever been addressed.
Is it in the que to be fixed? ...and is there another way I can change the polling frequency of the device?

Try a refresh instead of a poll, that works for my Iris v2 devices anyway.

This device doesn't support the polling capability so it is not there. That said, the device should update the hub immediately when the button is pressed. It doesn't not need to be polled for a button press. Refreshing the device will just lead to battery life drain not an increase in the reporting speed. If you are seeing a slow-down in the action for the button press that could be due to the button or due to the device you are trying to control. Can you enable debug logging for both devices and post the logs?

Button devices can't be polled. They mostly sleep with radios off. The radio is turned on in response to a button press. They will turn the radio on to report a temperature change. Outside of that, the button is not available remotely. If you need something to constantly provide temperature, you will need a plugged in device.

Thanks... I'll consider using our CT-101 Radio thermostat. The button is in the room where the fan is but the thermostat isn't too far away so it's temperature should be close to the room's temperature.

The Samsung button should report as frequently as it needs to, that is to say, when there is a temperature change in the room. If it is not reporting, the temperature can be assumed to be static. What I think you might be finding is that the temperature reporting of button, contact or motion sensors isn't as great as it's purported to be. Polling isn't going to help that. The temp from a thermostat is always going to be more accurate.

Thanks! Went back and looked at the logs as you suggested. It shows the button and fan are functioning as they're supposed to. I guess I never physically seen the fan change speed and just assumed it wasn't working. So simple to look at the logs and clearly see. ...and I agree on accuracy: Button / Thermostat... Duh.
