Plug in line powered devices

Am I the only one that wishes there were more devices like the EZMultiPli that plug into an outlet so I don't have to worry about batteries? I know there are several larger form factor motion/temp sensors that can be battery powered but they all use an external power block and are larger.

Probably.
Just kidding.

Of course fewer batteries would be better - that is why I have GE Motion Switch/Dimmers all over my house.

However, most of the time outlets simply aren't in a convenient place for the sensor. A motion sensor at ankle level isn't very useful to me... Temperature or humidity measured 12" above the floor is completely worthless... Lux reading by the floor isn't especially useful either... Etc.

I picked up a couple of zooz zse18 for high traffic areas. They do not report temp though, just motion and vibration, I believe. They work well. An added advantage to these is they work as a repeater if you plug them in. No idea how well they repeat. I then modded 2 Samsung motion sensors to plugs. 1 to a usb and the other to a transformer plug I had lying around. There are several tutorials on this. Most on the Smartthings forums. I thought there was one on here but a quick search did not turn it up.

This was the first one I used: Make a battery powered sensor run on USB - Projects & Stories - SmartThings Community

IMO the power adapter/transformers are the easiest. No need for a step down converter.

Too funny, I just saw a video where they had placed a motion sensor under the bed. I just put one under my bed last night at floor level to turn on my nightlight. Hadn't even thought of giving this a try, but now my bedside Lutron pico will probably rarely get used.

yeah but wires running on the wall

You won't see them if you're going to place this right at the outlet like you want to.
