Thanks for compiling this list.
Is there any plans to simplify how these Community apps are installed? Like a marketplace.
This would really simplify install and see when updates are available etc.

We have plans for this, but it's going to be some time before we do it.

Any updates on this? Will be good to have a marketplace/store to download apps.
This is no longer something we are planning. There are just a bunch of thorny problems that make this infeasible.
