Pixel 7a Recent Geo Issues

I know there are a million topics regarding geo fencing issues, but none of the existing solutions I've found have worked for me.

The exact issue is that no geo data seems to be pushed unless I open the app. Once the app is opened, I get a geo even fairly quickly, but it rarely (if ever) sends in the background.

Has anyone had this specific issue? Below is all of the info + settings I've set.

Phone: Pixel 7a
OS: Android 14
App: Hubitat Elevation v2.0.6
Pause app activity is unused: Off
Battery: Allow background usage & Unrestricted
Data: Background data and unrestricted data usage enabled
Location: Allow all the time

I was having a similar issue on my Pixel 8 and wife's 6a. It was affecting the Hubitat app and the Google Home arrive/depart routines. After installing Owntracks and getting all the settings right, all of our GPS issues on both phones were resolved. All the apps update properly now. My theory is that something in the Owntracks app is forcing the phone to keep the GPS updated, and the other apps weren't doing that.

Appreciate the comment Alan.

Can you confirm if you literally just installed Owntracks on your devices or if you also set up the app on the Hubitat Hub?

Also, can you clarify if there is anything specific when you said, "getting all the settings right"?

Thanks again.

I also set up the app on the hub and am using Owntracks along with the other presence sensors, using the Combined Presence app to aggregate them. If I didn't have the other presence sensors already set up, I would just use Owntracks.

As for the settings, I had to toggle some settings on just one of our phones, which was discussed here:

The other phone worked without needing the extra steps. Not sure why.

Thanks again. I'll try to give that a shot this weekend. It's a shame we have to rely on another app/process for this. :frowning:
