Paul hibbert candeo RD1 Pro dimmer success

Hi there, has anyone had any success with this device and any associated driver. I'm toying with the idea of purchasing but looking for reassurance on its effectiveness?

Also does the dimmer turn on with a rotate or does it need to be pressed/toggled?... Appreciated

Hi Stuey,

It is great to see you are interested.

While I cannot comment on individual experiences, our RD1 family of dimmers has seen strong sales since launch.

At present, the dimmer needs to be pressed to turn on before the brightness can be adjusted.

If you have any questions, we would be happy to help, either here or through our help desk.

I've done a spot of AI research which is implying that I can create rules to turn dumb bulbs on by a rotation. Does the rotary dial sense rotation if the dumb bulb/button is in the off position. If this is the case, then I could piece a rule together to achieve this?

Unfortunately, in dimming mode the RD1-Pro does not send any rotation events while it is off, so it is not possible to create a rule to turn the lights on via rotation.

As an alternative, you could set the RD1-Pro to dual-purpose mode. This configures the dimmer knob to act as a remote control, while the non-smart bulbs remain controllable via Hubitat. In this setup, you can create rules to turn the bulbs on when the knob is rotated.
