I currently have a C7, I am adding 2 C8s to my setup. I want to have one C8 in the house, and one in the shed, Looking around at some of the posts, it looks like I should keep the C7 in the mix and use that to manage the rules and automation entries, and use the C8s to handle the devices themselves. Is this correct? I am currently having some coverage issues I believe, and sometimes the devices don't respond and follow schedules.
Either way is valid.
Two C8s that use hub mesh. The shed hub shares its devices so that the main hub can control them.
Three hubs where both C8s share their devices so that the C7 can control them.
In my case Iโm redesigning my setup with three hubs. The third is just because I already have it. A C8 to connect all my devices to (except lights) and run most automations. A C7 for my Zigbee lights because they donโt play well with other devices. Another C7 to run cloud based and high resource apps.
The biggest issue is making sure you build sold meshes.
I'd keep the C7 around in case you run into issues w/Zigbee on the C8...a subset of C8 users have had issues w/some devices on the C8. Having the C7 around may provide a safe harbor for if you have any Zigbee devices that don't want to play nicely w/your C8s.
Thanks for the info. When I get the new hubs, do I have to remove devices from the c7 and add to the c8?
I'll probably keep the few zigbee things I have on the c8 just to be sure
Does anyone know how I should handle adding the 2 new hubs to my setup? Should I remove all devices from my C7 and add everything to the new hub it corresponds to?
