I’m presuming I’m screwed but figured I’d ask anyway.
Im in a rental in Thailand. None of light switches have a ground or neutral in the switch box. Nor is there any space in the switch box if I wanted to use a relay regardless.
All can / pot lighting so not easy to remove the can to install a relay. The easiest solution for lighting control for me was to replace all of the lights with zigbee and control them from Sonoff wireless zigbee switches. It’s working reasonable well. I have one under cabinet light that is hard wired to a switch that id like to automate. This switch box does have enough room for a relay but again. Only 2 wires in the box. Hot in from somewhere then hot to the light.
I can see the wires going into the light. I’m not sure where the ground is coming from though. There is an outlet adjacent to the switch so it’s possible that the ground or neutral is being pulled from there for the light. Hard to say but the light is clearly working so the ground has to be coming from somewhere to the light and only hot in the switch box. I don’t suppose there are any zigbee relays out there that only work from a hot line? I know that’s unlikely as the device would need some return path to ground to power the circuit but figured I’d ask.
