One week old Hub C8 - No Power

I setup this brand new hub just this week with little to nothing on it as of yet. (2 rules, 5 devices). This morning I noticed it was off . I repeatedly unplugged and plugged it back in (several different outlets) but nothing happened (no LED) . Eventually I tried another adapter and, voila, it worked. To confirm the original adapter was toast, I shutdown the hub, plugged it back in using the original adapter and it worked.

This concerns me. First, why did the hub shutoff in the first place? Why would it not power up with the original adapter? Why is it working now after swapping out this adapter with another then swapping out the new with the original adapter??

This is my 4th hub and compared to my other 3 is the most critical as it will be located remotely monitoring human activity inside an apartment. I can not have this unit just shutdown for no reasons

Well it sounds as though it didn't shutdown for no reason; it may have shutdown due to a bad power supply adaptor. As you have repeatedly unplugged/plugged in the hub, I'd recommend doing a soft reset and restore as there's a possibility of database corruption.

How critical? It's well documented that Hubitat (or any other smart home hub for that reason) should not be relied upon for security, safety or welfare systems.

It monitors motion inside the apartment. If no motion is detected in [n] hours it texts people on the list (assuming the hub is actually on). False alarms (i.e motion sensors stop responding) , while maybe disturbing, would not be the end of the world. While it may not be perfect the alternative is nothing.

I only did this when it appeared there was no power to the hub. No idea what caused the original power off. That said, I think I will try the soft reset anyways as I have other weird issues (i.e rules disappearing after update).

Did you have a look at the logs when you got it back online???

Unfortunately I did not. I did a soft reset and restore which, at the very least, vastly improved boot speed. There were other issues with this hub and I don't if these issues were all related.
